    Yamaha YZ85 2009

The boy has mastered the Kx85 ans has been eyeballing my 06 Yz125 so to sway his attention (temporarily) I picked him up the a very clean Yz85. I know what you are thinking. One 85 to another. But this is no ordinary Yz85... It has a big wheel kit, swingarm, brake line, Excel Takasago 16 rear and 19 front rims in black, Talon hubs in blue. It also has a 105 big bore cylinder and piston and runs on race gas/927. R&D Dominator kit. Cone pipe. Pro Circuut Shorty R-304 silencer. The bike screams. Dad gave her a ride and it suprised me when the powerband kicked in and the front wheel lofted. In 3rd gear. Tag sprockets and gold chain, Tag 7/8 bars. 2015+ plactics. So the boy has joined the Supermini ranks for his 13th year on this rotating rock. Next year he will be moving into the Yz125. If I can keep the motor a stock bore.

    Pro Circuit R-304 Shorty Silencer

    Love Pro Circuit pipes!

    Pro Circuit works pipe

I have always loved Pro Circuit exhaust pipes especially for Yamaha's. The 2nd Yz125 I have had with a PC combo. It absolutely rips up top.

    The problem with Motorcycles

Her: Why am I always catching you looking at other women? Me: Hey, I have the bike of my dreams sitting in my garage, but I still look at other bikes. Her: !! So I am the woman of your dreams?! Me: Huh?

    17 KTM 150sx set-up questions

Finally got her home! Nice. What are your plans with it until the weather breaks? So I am guessing the boy is done with kx85's? What's up with the stripped down frame I see just waiting for a complete build in the foreground?!

Congratulations on the soon to be acquired smoker for the boy. With a fresh top end and only 17 hours that 150 will haul him around in style for quite some time! Good job Dad!čĹŹ

    06 Yz125 weak low end/ jetting

Thanks bud. That's what I was saying on the 2nd off camber, foot peg deep rutted, rocky hill climb! Where's my 250! But that's where the boys were riding and I could not bring myself to leave the tiddler in the garage. Was still fun slippin' the clutch and ridin' the ruts!

I have not used Permatex Motoseal. If it is less stringy than Yamabond and cleans up better it sounds good to me. Chances are it is a little less expensive than the $10 alternative.

Ok, thank you bud. Yamabond4 or 5? I have used 4 before, which I have heard is thinner, and 5 apparently cures harder.?

    06 Yz125 weak low end/ jetting

I have considered a Lectron or perhaps the 38 Airstriker you suggest, but I have not jetted much beyond needle clip positions and air screw adjustments in the past. Never really needed to. So if no air leak at the reed cage, I will be meticulously jetting this carb in an attempt to hone my tuning skills! Heck I already learned how to change my tire without hurting my pretty rims with a chair and a shovel! Thanks Thumpertalk!

However much I would love to, that would be a detriment in this type of terrain available locally. I have to save that for a track day, as this will be my track bike. I just had to take it out!

175 psi compression not that the rings are seated after a couple hours. Idle was high, idle screw was screwed in pretty far. Backed it down and it idles perfect. No hanging idle when revving. I will be putting new gaskets in with the V force reeds along with a little black RTV to rule out an air leak there. It has taken me a couple of days to get the gaskets and jets and to also break in the new piston and rings, I am soncurious to see where it is. Also picked up some BR9EG plugs for chop tests. Looking at the new plug I put in when I got the bike it has a good color, maybe a little dark. But no spooge. The chops will tell the story. Apparently the PC pipe and shorty both lend to a short but snappy powerband. Really helped the 250 but then again it is a 250 and only has a Works pipe with a 296. No shorty. Timing will be checked after jetting is confirmed and air leaks are ruled out.
