    Team Usa Mx

i don't know if any of you remember all the trash talk that the europians gave to us when the usa riders dropped out of the world championships. they basically said the usa riders dont have what it takes to beat our guys pretty much. i'll try to dig up one of my magazines and print word for word from what they said. it was pretty funny and kinda made you angry at the same time. but anyways here's to the USA team thats going to be out there. i guarantee the way RC is racing outdoors, he'll smoke the shits out of those people. here's a little article on team usa.. July 27, 2005 TEAM USA AT FIM MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS - press release - The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has announced that it will field a strong team including Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham and Mike Brown in the 59th annual running of the FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernée, France, on the weekend of 24-25 September. Carmichael is a veteran of two previous Motocross of Nations -- the 2003 event in which Team USA finished second behind Team Belgium and the most recent American victory in 2000 – while Windham and Brown will appear for the first time. "I am very happy that Team USA will take part in the Motocross of Nations in Ernée", said FIM Motocross Commission President Wolfgang Srb. “This means so much for the sport when the best riders of the world race together; and we expect to see the most exciting race of the year.” An expected 30 teams representing every continent will compete in the most prestigious motocross event on the FIM calendar. “This is our "Olympic Games of Motocross," Srb said. “We are thrilled that these three AMA Motocross athletes will represent the USA in the 2005 Motocross of Nations,” said Robert Rasor, President of the American Motorcyclist Association. “ The AMA and AMA Pro Racing, along with millions of American motocross fans and fellow motocross competitors, will be cheering for Ricky, Kevin and Mike as they challenge the world’s best in Ernee, France.” As the FIM’s Contract Partner for World Championship Motocross and Supermoto, Youthstream manages the marketing and broadcast rights for the Motocross of Nations. Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream’s Founder and President, expressed delight with the Team USA announcement. “This is a fantastic development for worldwide Motocross, for the fans, for FIM, for AMA and for Youthstream,” Luongo said. “I want to thank the AMA, Ricky Carmichael and everyone involved in making this announcement possible. This adds excitement to this year’s event and is an important step toward our work to bring the Motocross of Nations to America in 2007. Carmichael is the winningest rider in AMA motocross history and will contest the Motocross of Nations on a Team Makita Suzuki. Windham and Brown will ride Hondas from the Amsoil Chaparral and Jim’s Motorcycle Sales stables. Five-time World Motocross Champion Roger DeCoster, who rode on six victorious Belgian teams and has managed all 15 of the AMA’s winning teams, will again serve as the Team USA Manager. American Honda Motor Co. and American Suzuki Motor Corp. will support the effort to give Team USA a record-tying 16th Motocross of Nations victory. Only Great Britain has won the famed event more times than the United States, which rolled to an unprecedented 13 straight wins from 1981-1993 and added victories in 1996 and 2000. Great Britain broke the Americans’ win streak with its most recent Motocross of Nations win in 1994 and has 16 wins in the event to 15 for Team USA and 14 for Team Belgium. Belgium is the current holder of the Peter Chamberlain Trophy that signifies victory in the FIM’s biggest event, and the Belgians have won four times in the past seven years. Other national teams expected to compete for top honors in the 59th Motocross of Nations include host France, Italy, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Youthstream anticipates the best global television coverage ever for the 2005 Motocross of Nations (attached the broadcasting list). “We have already secured live coverage in more than 40 countries, with delayed one-hour highlight programs scheduled in many other markets including SPEED Channel in the USA,” Luongo said. “We are also in negotiation for a live or short-delay broadcast in the US.” In addition to the event’s extensive television package, motocross fans throughout the world can access live coverage of the 2005 Motocross of Nations with live streaming programming offered at www.mediazone.com/motocross. Along with the team competition for victory in the Motocross of Nations, this year’s event will offer fans a rare chance to see top stars from the FIM World Motocross Championships and the AMA Motocross Championships in action on the same track. Of particular interest will be the match-up of eight-time World Champion Stefan Everts of Team Belgium and 12-time AMA Champion Carmichael. The 2005 Motocross of Nations venue, operated for many years by the Moto Club Ernee, has undergone many changes under the guidance of Youthstream Sports Manager and track-building expert Greg Atkins. “With all of the changes we expect Ernee to provide a difficult but fair test for all of the teams without giving an advantage to one country or another,” Luongo said. “It’s good luck to everybody, and whoever wins is truly the best.” Youthstream is the company that manages the exclusive television, marketing and promotional worldwide rights of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship, the FIM Motocross World Championship, the FIM Motocross Of Nations, the UEM Motocross European Championship, the UEM SuperMoto European Championship and the FIM Snowcross World Cup.

i found that article i was looking for in one of my Racer X mags. listen to what this guy says about Team USA for when AMA announced they weren't sending anyone over there for Lierop... "They've got Ricky and Bubba... but after that who do they have of world-best status? American-born: K-Dub (going downhill fast), Travis P. (good at tricks, lost as a racer), Mike Brown (too old), Ryno Hughes (old), the Alessi boys (joke-more hype than substance), Sean Hamblin (who?) and then who? A bunch of no-names... USA' s glory days are coming to an end and they're too busy bullshitting to notice." -Richard Stephens for Moto-X Magazine (UK) HERE'S ANOTHER.. "If you want to act like a bunch of precious prima donnas then play football, sorry soccer. If you want to prove you're the best in the world make sure you're in Leirop on October 3rd!"
