  1. Update: I bought and installed a 51 tooth rear sprocket. With a 12 on the front and newish stock length chain it fit just fine with room to adjust chain tension. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet.
  2. Is it annoying to have to run through the gears with the lower final drive ratio or do you just start out in second or third on flat areas?
  3. I've been using the rpt50 method and I hate having to ride the clutch so hard at low speeds. I ride lots of steep rocky trails and wanted to experiment with losing top speed in exchange for a few low speed "tractor" gears. slowmotoi, do you remember what chain length you needed for your sprocket setup?
  4. Thanks! Didn't know what other info to provide. With the 12 tooth cs the rear wheel is almost all the way to the rear of the swingarm. New stock length chain, is that a 112?
  5. Thanks for the replies. Anyone have an answer to my original question?
  6. Will this combo work with the stock length chain?
  7. I have a 2001 and use it only for play and rocky, technical trail riding. I rarely use fifth gear and never use sixth. I'm an older rider and new to two strokes. Current front sprocket is a 12 and the rear is 48. I'd like a bit more low end grunt. I assume that 12 is the smallest I can go on the front. What is the largest rear sprocket that fits with the OEM length chain?
  8. Great day of riding. Thanks to Smoke for organizing and Mike for instructing.
  9. Just learned about this group and outing today. I plan on joining you tomorrow.
  10. Thanks for checking. I'm a little suprised.
  11. Great info, thanks. Do you have any idea how the flywheel weights compare for enduro and motocross models of the yz250?
  12. What is a "gytr yz250 weighted flywheel"?
  13. Thanks for the replies. I was interested in the weights compared to trail bikes to help me pick a flywheel weight. My instinct was to get the 11 oz, but I have no idea how light the YZ flywheel is compared to trail bikes.
  14. I have a 2001 Yamaha yz125 I use for trail riding. It is my first two stroke. I have gotten comfortable with the throttle response and need for fine clutch control. I'm intrigued with the idea of adding a flywheel weight. Does anyone know the actual weight of the OEM flywheel for this bike and similar size trail bikes like TTR, CRF, WR, etc?
  15. The airscrew is 1.5 turns out at sea level. What is its useful range? 3 turns? 8 turns? I realize beyond 3 i should rejet, but for temporary high elevation how far can it be adjusted?
