    1985 KX125 cylinder boring/honing

    Nah it ain’t toast
  3. I bought a 1985 KX125 for a $100. It’s in pieces but it’s all there. One thing I ran into is this cylinder. It’s scored on the inside. I think the top end blew up on this that’s why it’s apart. Wanna see what you guys think. Is it ok to where I can hone it out myself or should I send it out, I know a local place. My friend works on bikes a lot and he says it’s not too bad I could do either or. I’ve done a few cylinders so far so I know about the cross hatching and stuff. Spec size is 56.00mm
  4. Just bought this beast for $400. Starts right up, gotta fix a couple of things, nothing major. I gotta do an oil change on it though. Does anyone know what kind of oil to use?
  5. So I got this gas tank from my 85 xt350 that I'm trying to clean. When I got it it was horrible. I heard apple cider vinegar works well (which in fact it does). I filled the whole tank to the rim with the cider and let it sit for about 5 days to a week, I then dumped it out, pressure washed the inside then sloshed some backing soda and distilled water around in there to neutralize the acid effect. I've found several sources that say baking soda neutralizes the acid (I think those were lies, or Im not doing something right). I got it really nice clean inside then a few minutes later it flash rusted again. So this week I did the same thing except after I dumped the old cider out I filled it with gas and let the gas sit for about 3-4 days. I then dumped out the old gas in a bucket and brought the tank into the basement. Looked pretty clean to me. An hour later I went to check on it and it was completely rusted. I don't really want to get a new tank considering I can get this one clean, I just don't know how to prevent the flash rust. I don't think I'm wasting my time cause I got all the time to work on this bike. If anyone has any suggestions, please send them my way. I'd really like to save this tank. Thanks -Matt

    Xt350 torque for head bolts

Hello, Any xt350 guys out there? Does anyone know what the torque specs are for the head bolts? Thanks -Matt
  10. So I bought this bike off CL for $150. The guy had intentions of fixing it up but didn't get to it. He wanted $200 but bumped it down to $150 AND was willing to meet half way. Motor turns over which was great and had great spark. The fly wheel cover was gone but I bought one off eBay. No title but whatever. Seat is kinda torn up but I'll get a seat cover off eBay for that. No speedo or rpm gages. Not gonna bother getting any. Just gonna use it as a trails bike or a woods bike. I rewired it to start without a key cause it didn't come with a key (in other words just stripped the wiring harness off of it and ran the stator wires to the CDI and CDI to coil with kill switch. The carbs where in alright shape. I Took them apart and rebuilt them. Just had to get a few seals and gaskets and o-rings for them. The gas tank was pretty rough. Guess I should of checked it before I bought it

What's is this part called on my carb?

Thanks for all the help guys. I found out what it is from a friend at work. It's a guide screw for the slide. And I fixed it. Thanks again

What's is this part called on my carb?

My carburetors aren't Mikuni. They are ydis. That's deffenitly not the idle screw. I know where the idle screw is. Air screw maybe. Not sure

No, that's not the idle screw.
  14. I'm cleaning the carbs on my 1985 Yamaha xt350 and there's this plastic like screw on the outside of where the slide is. I kinda accidently chewed it up with a screwdriver and I need to get a new one but I don't know what it's called or where to get one. Does anyone know what it's called?

    1985 Yamaha xt350

Just bought this 85 Yamaha xt350. I got cheap like $150 cheap it's missing some stuff but it's basically all there. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can remove the key switch from it and start the bike without an ignition, the guy I got it from lost the key. I plan on using this as a beat around bike. If I get running, great, if not, I can always use it for parts. If anyone knows how can go about the whole wiring thing let me know. Thanks
