    My SM ride, stoked !

I am gonna get a smaller fender soon, thanks. This was a shot from the night I got the wheels. $600 for both with new pilot sport tires was a steal.

    My SM ride, stoked !

I have had a CA Plated 2006 Honda CRF450x for about 6yrs now.... But I just scored these brand new Warp9/Michelin wheels and tires last night for $600. Gotta love craigslist baby. Installed them and logged about 100mi on a test run. Too much fun and wheelies come cheap. I am stoked to finally have a real SM ride. Too bad San Diego now has the biggest rain storm in 30 years, she will have to wait a few days to get sunny again. Cheers Jim

    Yamaha My new Yamaha YFZ450

I was going to buy a 2012, but it was gonna set me back 5k. So I got a new (to me) 2004 YFZ450. It literally has been ridden a handful of times. And for $2500 I felt was a better option. I will be doing the oil system upgrade ASAP. I am going to keep mods modest, as it isn't my main ride. Adding pipe, filter and jetting is next. Can anyone suggest proper jetting for sea level? I live in San Diego. Will be used in sand dunes and ocotillo wells, mountains occasionally at 4,000 ft. Any input and advice is much appreciated Thx Jim

Been a long time, new look.

My 2006 Ca Plated bike got a new look last night. Lots of fun on streets, and cheap wheelies. Have been through too many nobbies the past 5-6yrs....lol Cheers Jim Ps, it's been forever since I popped in.

  8. On wednesday April 27th the world lost a truly amazing rider, friend, brother, son and person. Barry Chinen worked at the Honda factory in Torrance Ca, after having worked at House of Motorcycles in San Diego CA. At Honda he had the dream job working with dirt and street teams and pros. Travelled globally and generally was blessed. I met him here on TT about 7-8 years ago I guess, and we enjoyed many rides, meals and laughs together. Barry was the nicest guy you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. He went by the TT member name "fuct". Barry would always hook you up with nice stuff and give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved to eat good food and live life. He was a great dirt and track (sportbike) rider, and an incredible surfer. Being a japanese hawiian made him mellow, loyal and kind. I dont know where he got his crazy sense of humor and wackiness, but it was always on display. Barry became ill in february after feeling bloated and having trouble eating for a few days. He didnt understand it because he was very healthy, and happy in life...things were going great. They kept him in the hospital for 10 days and that worried me, they couldnt figure out what was wrong. Finally they concluded he had a very rare form of cancer and was dying, had just a few months to live maybe. I remember him telling me on the cellphone driving home and I almost went off the road. Well over the course of the next few months he lost over 100lbs and suffered greatly, but never once complained. He smiled even when it hurt and kept fighting to the very end. Honda, his family, his friends and even the world really is at a loss today. Barry will truly be missed by many, and never forgotten. He was my best friend and I am greatful for the time we had as brothers. I just cant believe your gone man. But I know we will meet again. I could never repay the kindness and honor you showed me, and I am forever touched by who you were in my life brother. Jimmy *ps* heres a link to his facebook incase you knew him http://www.facebook.com/#!/dinkywheelieking

The X goes on Jenny Craig

The PMB kickstands are the ticket, those puppies are super nice, strong and trick. Had one on my R model, and it sure made kicking easier on longer days. I want one for my x, just cause they fit and look so much nicer. I am not so weight concerned, matter of fact just added BD rear pegs and have given 2 of my kids a ride around town. You should have seen the kids trip on my 13yr old being picked up from school on a dirtbike, ven the dads were gawking, ha ha

The garage that holds the Bikes!!!

Half my garage is dirtbikes and quads, this is the other half.
  11. I have also always loved the clean sano look of the factory Honda graphics, so it is very hard to beat that look if not impossible. When I got my bike it had aftermarket graphics which are very nice, but I would love to have a clean, stock set even more. It gives that low profile, yet tricked out look to your bike with all the mods. Your TJ elsinore kit is very dope, and well done, but looking at the pics stacked would have to vote Honda red man. I was gonna be the first to post on this, but wanted to see what others might say first. Keep the TJ setup, but rock Honda red for awhile. Eventually I want to get a stock set for my ride, and maybe a white set with the Honda Crf450x euro stickers (Australia). Just ordered the rear pegs from BD to give my 13yr old son a few rides, since I pick him up from school everday. Gonna suprise him this week

    Bulgarian CRF450X project. !!!

Your work is commited and done in the style you wanted, so I think it is great. That is a ton of hours sweating and spinning wrenches. I dont care for the red tires, never have liked colored rubber. And I think the swingarm powdrercoated to match the frame would be great, with black tires. Just my thoughts, but again..if it is how you wanted it, then you should be very proud and enjoy the bike for many years. Nice work !!! Jim

    decals

I like the red white and blue cover, is that factory or custom? Looks good, and how is the seat? Seems it would be comfortable for us old guys ???

    Tall Seat: Firm or Medium?

I would think that tall soft would be the best cure for monkey butt inducing 4+ hour rides, especially beach cruises where you sit a lot more than dirt rides. What ya think?

I dont have the supermoto wheels... yet My friend does and we did a 4 hour beach ride last weekend. My knobbies dont do so well with wheelies and all. Oh, your question will be better answered in the Supermoto forums, but here a link to Motostrano to get quick info. http://www.motostrano.com/supermototires.html

Rock garden on my EX track

that looks tough on the old back, but I am 47 and have previous injuries...so I would only want to hit it a few times if that...ha ha. But it looks great and setup nice for training.

Madness and Misery at Christy Mines

I remember hitting some mud like that a few years ago, took over 2 hours to detail the bike and get her cleaned...ha ha. Was worth it, but not something I would care to do every weekend. GREAT video

BEST SKID PLATE for the $$$?

I run the Acerbis and have been %100 pleased with it. Of course I have it mounted on a streetbike, but still. It has yet to let me down and have bounced a few rocks off it and packed it with mud and dirt. I know JAT had issued with his, but he is an animal...lol. I took this picture right after mounting it long ago, it still looks just as good today. It has seen mountains, tracks, and desert (and streets) and begs for more. I highly reccomend it
