    YZ250X Mod Comparison

It wasn’t gurgle at all. It still sounded like it was running clean, it just felt like I was trying to accelerate through the bottom end while pushing the back brake a little. That is the easiest way to describe it. I don’t remember my ‘18 feeling this way, but I never rode it with just the jetting mod. I actually thought the RK Tek head would be less finicky with jetting? I actually bought it so when I ride single track at 5000’ my bike would run cleaner.

Not sure what the volume is. I just told them the fuel type I use, riding type, and elevation. I’ve never measured squish either. I thought my ‘18 ran phenomenal so I just rode it.

    YZ250X Mod Comparison

So I used to have a 2018 YZ250x that I had done some mods to (#40 power jet, RK Tek head, and GYTR flywheel), but I didn’t do them one at a time. So though I was extremely happy with the final package I didn’t know the effect of each. So I stripped them off before selling the ‘18 and today I had time to ride my track with my ‘19. I started out riding stock, then did the jetting mod and rode that, then put the RK Tek and rode that. I will get to the flywheel tomorrow. Here are my back to back impressions: #40 power jet changer per Klinger- Bike was noticeably crisper. Bike felt better pretty much everywhere. RK Tek head- So this is where things went weird. I actually felt like the bike ran WORSE with the head. I found that accelerating out of corners was more sluggish and I had more trouble making the doubles without serious seat bouncing. The mid and up felt about the same. I’m going to swap the heads back and forth one more time to see if my original impression was correct, and also have my riding buddy who races the pro class give a second opinion. For information I’m at about 1500’ elevation and 65 degrees F.

I can’t remember what bend the bars are. I’ve had them for a few years. I’d bet they are Doug Henry bend though. The guards are Pro Bends with tapped bar ends and the BRP mounts on the other side. They have been really solid and I feel the bars still flex as good as always.

    YZ250X Engine Mods???

My bike isn’t stock, so I don’t accept stock is always better. But it is well documented that the stock pipe is about as good as it gets on the YZ’s. I only spend money on upgrades if I’m almost certain there is going to be an improvement, but maybe I don’t have as much spare cash laying around as you do.

    YZ250X Engine Mods???

Why don’t you just run a carbon fiber pipe guard on the stock pipe? Keep the stock power and protect it as well. It seems you like to over complicate things.

What did you do to your YZ 2 stroke today?

Broke in the 2019. Had to do it down the dirt road because there is snow everywhere else.

    YZ250X Engine Mods???

I haven’t been able to find a single clear review either way. I did find a bad review on their free pistons though.

Those aren’t safety glasses, they are reading glasses. Better for small debris but if there was something large you would have that as well as sharp glass stuck in your eye.

It’s the Zip Ty 3.2G tank. Probably the most expensive option but I think it is the best looking.

    What would you do?

Is that a tire iron in the photo? If that is what you used, no wonder you broke the rim. That looks like an automotive tire iron. Use some good quality spoons like the ones from Motion Pro. I also say replace it and throw the old one away.

    YZ250X Engine Mods???

I too am really interested in these. I ride a lot of varied stuff and am adjusting my clickers a lot. I haven’t been able to find a single decent review on them though, so I’m hesitant to pull the trigger.

Help! How do you clear frame mount removing YZ250 head?

This is how I take my head off too. I’m too picky about my bike to take a grinder to it.
