2017 FC 450 hard to shift

Edge 316, Did you by chance get a moment to dig into the your SXF 450 yet?

2017 FC 450 hard to shift

I was not able to identify the problem. I pulled the right side off as noted, but wasn't able to see or notice anything out of ordinary. I Have not had the chance to ride much lately, but going to try and re adjust my lever position. I'm a B rider, and set my bike up months ago, so I'm 99% sure that isn't it but want to at least "try" that. I do wonder if my clutch slave may not be engaging properly? If you by chance figure anything out, PLEASE let me know!!! Good luck!

Thanks eastreich for the response and guidance. I will try and look for debris or a bent shaft, as after your explanation(s) it make sense. Thank you again!

    MIM Shift Star?

I'm riding the brother of the KTM 450 SX-F; mine is '17 FC 450 (10 hrs on it). As of late I have not been able to shift from 2nd to 3rd. It use to shift perfectly under power, not now. After it heats up, its very notchy and doesn't NOT want to shift. I was told to get an MIM Shift Star but have not been able to find one. Newbie Question here: Would the "Selector Interlock Mechan. Coupler" be the same? I've looked at the schematics on KTM Twins and cannot seem to find one, other than what was just mentioned. Thanks in advance!!!

2017 FC 450 hard to shift

I'm looking for some guidance/advice. I've been putting in some moto's recently, and my bike fights me when shift from 2nd to 3rd after it heat up; sometimes will not shift at all?! I read the '18s are now using a "MMI shift star". They mentioned that if your having problems with shifting your '17 FC 450 replace the shift star. Problem is, I cannot find a replacement MMI Shift Star as noted in mags and that are on the new 18s. I also wonder if it might be the oil I'm using? I'm use 15/50 Motorex Cross Power 4T. Thanks in advance! So frustrating!!!

Help - Adjusting Rebound on '17 FC 450

Yes, correct, trying to go from memory at this point.... Difficult crowd here...
  9. So I haven't gotten much feedback on the Husqvarna forum, and my 17 FC 450 is the close brothern to the KTM SXF 450, so I thought I would try here. So, I've got approx. 5 hrs on the bike now, and I adjusted the high and low-speed compression and it seems like a little black tube/sleeve started to come out or move with the adjusters, is this normal? I turned the high speed all the way in (easily), then backed it out 15 clicks; Low speed, in all the way, out 1.3/4 turns out. I will see if I can take a pick and show everyone. But not sure it's right? Also, I adjusted the suspension per MXA specs as a starting point, and the rear feels a little off, almost like its dead. Thanks in advance for your help!

Help - Adjusting Rebound on '17 FC 450

YHGEORGE, yes I mis-spoke; the "compression", and I assure you I have read the manual carefully and have been riding/racing since 89 and had not seen this before, I was curious as this didn't seem quite right? I ONLY asked because on my previous bikes, I've never noticed this but they were not KTM/Husqvarna's. When adjusting the low-speed (1.3/4 turns) and high speed (15 turns) to be a bit more "technically" correct, it seems seems that the black sleeve that the adjuster moves in seems to have move out with the adjuster? Sounds like I'll have to talk with the dealer.
  11. Ok - So, I've got approx. 5 hrs on the bike now, and I adjusted the rebound and it seems like a little black tube started to come out with the adjuster, is this normal? I am new to KTM/Husqvarna. I turned the rebound all the way in (easily), then backed it out 15 clicks. This is the rebound adjuster on the top of shock. Just seems a bit odd to me? Also, I adjusted the suspension per MXA specs as a starting point, and the rear feels a little off, almost like its dead. Thanks for the help!

    Rear shock rebound adjuster

I have a feeling, mine may be fully closed, as I turned it fully in... then backed it out the appropriate clicks (15) and noticed the black tub seemed to coming with it? Thoughts?
  14. I was lucky enough to find one, but it was on EBAY and came from Canada. I was informed by my dealer, and a few others, that KTM no longer offers them for concern of the "public" violating emissions regs in (CA) and the like. I'm sure one will surface at some point.
  15. Oh, one more thing, sounds like I'll have to have the ECU "unlocked"?
