    YZ250F won’t start

I honestly couldn’t tell you how hard the impact was and there weren’t any marks on the cam journals or anything that seemed concerning for me. The head visibly appeared fine once I had it all apart no cracks. The engine actually rotated perfectly fine once I pulled the timing chain and head off and there was play up and down and only a bit of carbon knocked off the piston. I don’t have the correct tool and have never done a leak down test. We actually got the bike to start last night by pulling and dropping it into gear. Wouldn’t idle at all but it was running. I have a friend who owns a shop I might end up taking it to. Fingers crossed my head isn’t trashed

Alright guys i think I’ve got it narrowed down. I got the bike to start for just a second with the hot start pulled but I think it’s flooding. Which way do I need to adjust the fuel screw? I’ve tried three turns out and two turns out but nothing.

Just replaced plug and still nothing I also rechecked all my valve clearances and found that I’d done all of my intakes gap too large but I’ve corrected it now. The spark plug boot coming off was my fault I must not have had it seated correctly. It appears that bobs build has run into the same issue as me any other suggestions?

10-4 it not being seated would make a lot of sense it just worried me [emoji28]. I’ll pick up some premium and a new plug and keep trying. If picture of anything would help let me know I’ll be more than happy to take them.

I’m not running premium but I will pick some up. The plug is 100% clean and smells like gas. No rags in air box and it does have spark. I went to kick the bike over earlier and got one VERY loud backfire and it blew the spark plug boot off.

I installed the new exhaust gasket and rebuilt the carb last night and I’ve still got the same problem. I didn’t replace the gaskets when I redid the top end (don’t tear into me too hard I’m already regretting it) and I didn’t check the head to see if it was warped as it seemed to seat just fine. The carb did start leaking after I put in the new gasket but that shouldnt cause a no start issue? It almost seemed like the bike is too easy to kick over ( I can move it past compression stroke slowly with my hand) I’m at a total loss here.

Sorry guys first post and I don’t have pics. I picked up a 2005 YZ250F a few weeks back that was locked up. Got it back to the shop and found that it had jumped time and bent the three intake valves and messed up both of the cams ( pulled the gear off of exhaust calm and rotated gear on the intake cam). The piston had almost no marks on it so I replaced all three exhaust valves, both cams, and the timing chain. I buttoned the bike up earlier this week and went to start and could only get it to run for a few seconds every 30-40 kicks. I’ve double checked my timing and opened the carb and cannot see anything wrong. The bike will occasionally backfire but only as often as it will crank. I realized in my inspection of the bike afterwards that it is missing the exhaust gasket. Could this be the issue? ( valves were reshimmed and springs, retainers, etc replaced) any help would be greatly appreciated!
