    Kennedy Meadows June 23-24

I’ll be up there with some friends next weekend. Does anyone know of any good bikes or creeks or swimming holes or places to fish? We’re bringing some peeps that don’t ride and would like to find some stuff for them to do.

    Swapping 4cs for air fork

Oo could I put my forks from my 09 300xc on my 15 te300? I like the way those feel:)

    Swapping 4cs for air fork

My stock caliper and rotor will all bolt right up and function properly? And are those spacers/the 22mm axel stock parts I can order? I mean, the spacers and axel you are saying I need, are those just the stock spacers and axel from a 17’ 300?

    Swapping 4cs for air fork

So these would bolt right up and not need any special fab work or custom spacers or brake caliper or anything? https://www.ebay.com/i/323151635884?chn=ps&dispItem=1&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F711-117182-37290-0%252F2%253Fmpre%253Dhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fi%25252F323151635884%25253Fchn%25253Dps%252526dispItem%25253D1%2526itemid%253D323151635884%2526targetid%253D399475538842%2526device%253Dm%2526adtype%253Dpla%2526googleloc%253D9031537%2526poi%253D%2526campaignid%253D1029894180%2526adgroupid%253D52284593482%2526rlsatarget%253Dpla-399475538842%2526abcId%253D1130056%2526merchantid%253D8268844%2526gclid%253DEAIaIQobChMIgsubz4GX2gIVFIh-Ch1q6w81EAQYASABEgK6jfD_BwE%2526srcrot%253D711-117182-37290-0%2526rvr_id%253D1484682177854

    Swapping 4cs for air fork

I have a 15 te300. I’ve heard a lot of debate about the stock fork and that you have to revalve and spring and modify it to get the same performance of other competitors. I personally do not love the way it feels. Rather then go spend a bunch of money getting my suspension done and possibly still not likening it, is it possible to spend a few hundred more and just drop a newer air fork or other brand in my stock triple clamps? I don’t really wanna debate on whether or not you can get great performance out of the 4cs, I’ve read a bunch of commentary on that and I understand people are pretty divided on this topic...Im more interested in alternatives and what kinda price were lookin at. I saw some 17 48 air forks on eBay for 1400 but I don’t know if it’s as simple as dropping the old ones out and sliding in some new ones and figuring out the front brake. Thanks guys!

    New 300 vs Old 300

Right?? I know the 09 is 10 pounds lighter which I’m not that concerned about since scale weight is not usually a huge deal, within reason. It’s all about feel. And the 09 feels soooo much lighter. To me the difference between the 09 300 and the 15 300 is very similar to the difference in feeling between a 250 and a 450. Weight and suspension wise, obviously not motor wise. On the trail I feel the weight. It feels harder to navigate in tight situations, also I feel like I can’t push it around as easily.

    New 300 vs Old 300

Sweet thanks! Yeah I’d doesn’t have much on it as far as wiring, no horn or anything. I guess it does have a little magnetic Speedo that runs up to the little computer. But yeah I just gotta get it dialed in.

    New 300 vs Old 300

Thanks for all the tips! What do you mean by road gear? I took the tail light assembly off I only have a headlight but I had a headlight on my xc as well. The bike seems wider in the tank/plastics as well. Doesn’t bother me but visually it does look bigger. I’ll mess with some suspension stuff as I think that’s the biggest difference. And then I did adjust the spring and power valve to be pretty much the same as my xc but I can try and adjust further. Thank you!

    New 300 vs Old 300

So I just sold my 09 300 xc which I loved..I picked up a 15 TE300. I was comparing them side my side..and I gotta say I kinda liked my 09 better. Felt more planted, steering didn’t feel quite as deflective, power felt a little more controlled, and most of all it felt way lighter. The 15 feels heavier, when holding the bars and tilting it side to side it feels like it holds a lot more weight up high. The only thing I like better is the 6 speed on the TE although I kinda like the way the gearing on the 09 xc felt at slower speeds. It’s nice to have a newer bike and it looks sweet for sure. Anyone else have a similar experience and prefer their older 300 over the newer ones? I’m thinkin if I get a stabilizer, and get the suspension dialed in I’ll be happier, but the weight is somethin I can’t really do much about. Looking it up online it looks like dry weight on the 09 is 221 and the 15 is 231..10 pounds seems pretty substantial.

    Where did you ride?

Crazy! From what I understood there is no legal single track anywhere down there only specific fire roads. But it’s always been a mystery and a Grey area.

    300 shifting problem..help? :)

If for some reason they don’t help me out or wanna make me pay for labor I’d love to try and diagnose and fix the problem myself if anyone has any ideas for what to look for and possible problems. Thanks!

    300 shifting problem..help? :)

Definitely gonna go in calm cool and collected and vibe it out first before the hell raising begins:) Often times if you go in too hot they think they have already lost you as a customer so why spend the money on mending the situation if you already hate them haha. So I’m hoping they take care of me cuz they are the only local Ktm husky dealer near me.

    300 shifting problem..help? :)

I gotta 15 te300 but it seems like people respond more in the Ktm threads, and I figure this problem would universal through both platforms. Today while riding, I got stuck in 4th and couldn’t down shift while riding. I would push down and it wouldn’t move at all. Initially I thought it was jammed or stuck or fully broken. It’s not spinning in the shaft it’s all snug so im checking that off the list. I rode back to staging area in 4th. Now looking closer the shifter moves up and down with no spring tension. When you push it down it doesn’t snap back up into its natural position it stays down..prohibiting you from shifting down again. Now if you kinda rock the bike forward and backward and move the shifter lever up and down with your hand you can shift through all the gears including neutral, but you have to physically push down and then after it engages and shifts you have to physically lift it back up to center in order to let it fully shift then you can down shift or up shift again. But if you don’t lift it back up with your hand it stays in the downward position prohibiting you from downshifting or up shifting again. I bought this bike preowned from 3 brothers racing in Costa Mesa..I only put a couple hours on it before this happened. I’m going to talk to them tomorrow and I’m praying they stand behind the bike...it’s really shitty to spend 6 grand on a used bike that they claimed was in excellent condition and inspected and gone through...and to have something like this happen. I had an 09 300 for years and never had a problem. I upgrade to a newer model and first day on it I get stuffed! Sucks really bad. Also they told me it was an older dudes bike that just casually road desert and was switching back to 4 strokes. Sounded like the perfect seller to me! But there was a motorcycle club sticker on the bike and I looked them up thinking it was some cheesy old guys rule dirt bike crew and turns out one of the top racing clubs in Southern California. So this bike was definitely freakin raced hard and detailed and new plastics installed before the sold it. Also getting some oil blowing from somewhere and covering the right side of the carburetor. I can’t tell where it’s coming from all the engine seals look clean. I’m pretty bummed on this whole situation. I just hope they take care of me otherwise I’ll be raising hell. If anyone can help I’d really appreciate it, I’m kinda up shit creek without a paddle.

    Brand new damaged Husqvarna cylinder

You guys ruined this interesting post. Welp I’ll share my experience...I have never had any issues with my 09 300 xc. Just sold it to my buddy and got a 15 husky te300. Maybe I don’t ride as often or as hard as the rest but they have both seemed to be very reliable, simple bikes to work on. Being in southern CA there really aren’t any competitive brands to husky/Ktm. I don’t know where I’d go to find a beta or gas gas or Sherco...and on the used market there just aren’t many out there. I’d be happy to switch to Yamaha or Honda if they made a 2 stroke 250/300 that was electric start, had a nice smooth power delivery, an easily adjustable power valve/spring, and came wired for a headlight and tail light that was as light weight as a Ktm or husky. But that’s just not available. I do dig the branding of Ktm and husky. I like that they are heavily involved in different genres of riding then just the track bikes and Baja style races. I think their brands suit guys like me that like to ride more trail and explore the wilderness. But I haven’t had the best experience with my local dealer. Some of the guys there are nice dudes but the sales manager is kinda an ass hole. Very manipulative and slimy in his tactics. They are over priced in their parts and don’t ever hook you up even if your a regular that spends a lot of money there. Their customer service is weak and you have to be ready to go to battle to get what you want and if you are not assertive they walk all over you. They definitely have a snobby attitude unless they can tell you have a lot of money. It’s funny sometimes I’ll be in there for an hour shopping parts and chatting and I’ll watch the sales manager talk to different people. A young kid comes in all excited about Ktm and the sales guy acts like he doesn’t have time for him and doesn’t bother, an older dude dressed in nice business attire walks in and he’s ready to suck him off with a big fake ass smile on. I get it, you gotta make money but I’m a firm believer at investing in every customer big or small. You never know when taking good care of someone is gonna pay off. If a dealer like in this case just simply took care of the customer or offered even to split the cost of repair or said hey you pay parts well cover labor. They may have had a happy customer that could have bought several more bikes in the next 10-20 years. Personally if I had another Ktm dealer in my area I’d avoid my local shop at all cost just because it doesn’t feel good giving this guy my money. I’m here buying a bike and it feels like I lost haha, I should be psyched! Anyways. I don’t know anything about this motor situation your all debating, although I’ve enjoyed reading about it. But I just wanted to chime in that I really love my husky and my older Ktm and I really love the brand, my experience with their dealers has been lack luster. See See Ktm up in Portland is usually who I call if I have a question I need to ask and don’t want to feel dumb by asking the snobs at my local shop. Those guys up there seem to know what they are doing and are really making the best of the ktm/husky brand. And if it wasn’t so expensive to ship and transfer from out of state I’d probably buy my next bike up there just out of loyalty to how kind they treat me when I have talked to them/visited their store. Anyways, get off yer dildos and get back to talking about dirt bikes. I wanna hear what ended up happening with this dudes bike! Was it improper break in? Is he gonna replace anything or run it as is? Is husky strong arming him? Let’s find out! [emoji41][emoji41][emoji41]
