    Clutch Engaging

I did purchase a cheaper clutch cable a while back - is it possible that it is slightly stretching when I pull the clutch in? Just enough to cause this issue that im having?

Yessir! I followed the service manual like a pastor to his bible.. I know for a fact everything is 100% from the basket to the hub/clutch bolts

My OEM clutch started slipping so I ordered the Outlaw clutch kit.. Maybe should have gone with an EBC or something better?

    Clutch Engaging

I recently did my clutch.. Now in order for me to shift from gear into neutral, I have to be moving slowly and rev it a little with the clutch in order for it to pop into neutral. I have tried adjusting my cable for over 2 weeks now and if I have it adjusted enough so it will go into neutral standing still, it slips when I give it full throttle in gear. When I have it adjusted so that it does not slip, I have the issue getting into neutral. When I first did the clutch, I used 3 old springs and 3 new springs evenly. I went back through my clutch yesterday and replaced with all new springs, made sure that my basket had no bad grooves in it, and I made sure all of the plates were in order with the service manual. I also ensured myself that the pivot lever where the cable hooks up at the motor is in the correct position. I have absolutely no clue what it could be.. does anyone else have some hints on something else I could look into? Thanks guys!

    Handbrake / Clutch lever setup

Hello all! I have everything setup and ready to go. I did the S to SM swingarm conversion, and I was lucky enough to have a friend that gave me 2 of the 50 stunt dual piston calipers for free off his bike after he sold it. All I need now is the bracket, a master, and a line, but this is where I want to be sure I make a good choice. I was thinking about going with the Dominator clutch cap on top of the brembo master cylinder.. But I am not sure how much adjustment there is on that. What would you guys recommend for the a stunt clutch/master setup? I do have the short impaktech clutch lever on currently, is there a good master that will fit with my clutch? All input is appreciated! Even trolling for a good laugh. lmao Thanks everyone!

    Wont shift into 2nd..

NPM got it right - for whatever reason the shifter was not hitting the case or anything, but it was too high. I moved it down one groove and it has no problem shifting now

That makes the most sense. I assume you tried rocking the bike back and forth with the engine off and it still can't shift? Yes sir! even with the bike off and it in neutral, I can pull as hard as I want on that shifter and it will not go into 2nd.. even with rocking back and fourth

    Wont shift into 2nd..

Im pretty sure a few months ago you were the one who helped me get my shifter fixed! the snap ring came off and my shift shaft went into my motor and the shift dog/leg popped off on this side. I did fix it, and when I started riding it, it was all fine with shifting. once I replaced the clutch this started happening.. but I definitely could have managed to screw something up so I will open it up and take a peek. I appreciate the help!

Yes! I not in trans oil, but I did soak them in the castrol 10w-40 4T motorcycle oil that I use.

    Wont shift into 2nd..

I just did a ton of work on the dizzer, big bore kit, new clutch, and shimmed the valves. Now when I try to shift into 2nd, it will not go into gear. Sometimes it will get into 2nd, but once ive ridden it for a minute or two it wont. I have to be around 6K rmp in order for it to get into 2nd, and i have to really hit the shifter to do so. If I am in neutral at a stop, it wont shift to 2nd at all; but will go into 1st with no issue. Any ideas what this might be? Maybe I screwed something up when I did the clutch? Thanks in advance!

    Valve Question

Okay, glad to hear this. when I rebuilt the carburetor, I changed it out. Hopefully its just a dial in of the fuel screw - but I will determine that after I check the valves, and or do another compression test

    Valve Question

I did two oil changes, and then filled.. I am very paranoid with fuel in my oil lol and by complete, are you referring to both the frame drain bolt, engine drain bolt, and the filter? or are you talking about the screen that is in the frame as well? I did all of them, but never did the screen

    Valve Question

Hopefully this will clear a few things up: 2001 DRZ400S Cam lobes initially had 0 clearance, they were holding the valves open I assume since after clearance was made it had good compression. I have not had the time to check the clearances after the first ride - I will get back on here once I do that and check compression again. I agree, and also I am worried because the previous owner seemed to not care for this bike so the dirt roads / no air filter could unfortunately be true.. One other thing I really would like to point out, is I had an issue with the vacuum petcock leaking when I first got the bike. Changed to a standard petcock, did two oil changes and then rode. shortly after I figured out the float needle was leaking (More gas in the oil) - rebuild the carb, and repeated the two oil changes and then rode again. I am definitely worried that this caused some issues. what is the best way to flush the frame/engine out?? I always seem to have a whiff off gas, even after I flushed it out twice, with two filters, and then filled up again.

    Valve Question

Solid point.. that would make it pretty obvious where the problem lies. Thanks for the idea! I will be doing this asap
