    1990 KX80 clutch

Thanks for all the input. I will snug up the bolts and check the installation and go from there

    1990 KX80 clutch

I recently started rescuing a badly neglected '90 KX80 with my 11 year old son. When we got it it had no piston, but the cylinder was in good shape. So far we've replaced the piston and rings, rebuilt the carburetor and installed a new throttle and cable. Also we've decarboned the exhaust and installed new packing in the silencer. The bike runs well and seems to need a little fine tuning with the clutch. We've rebuilt it, installed new springs and followed the procedure outline by the manual. It says to tighten the five screws on the pusher plate completely. Problem is if you do so it completely compresses the springs and does not allow the clutch to disengage. I would assume the screws are not supposed to be "bottomed out", but I can find no info on how to correctly install. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated
