It starts pulling good and then bogs coming into the midrange and then cleans up when it gets to WOT. Riding along in any gear at nearly max revs and shifting to the next gear it bogs hard and then cleans up.

2006 DRZ400SM. I just put in the JD jet kit with the 160, 25, 2.5 turns, and blue needle on the middle position and I have a full Yosh RS3 and I cut the airbox lid out a little bigger than 3x3. I'm in Clemson, SC at an altitude of 800-1000 ft and I put in the blue needle 'cause I saw where you said somewhere that they weren't that sensitive and I figured blue since its starting to get cold some days. Anyway, idles fine, top end is fine, but it feels fat through the middle. What do you suggest?

Ehhh, I've had rougher. I hear ya about the bouncing off, but at least it was wide enough that you could pass at will in most places. The Honda wasn't so bad other than the fact that it WON'T start in gear, ever. I had to start in neutral and then pop it in gear, then it didn't start 1st kick so it took even longer than I hoped. I avoided the pileup in the second turn and went around a lot of people on the left side and I was mid pack when we got off of the mx track the first time, so I cut through ok. That bike has Pro-Action suspension that is set up for a 180lb mx'er, so with my big butt on it it worked pretty good in the woods. The only other problem I had was the top subframe bolt came out with about 1/2 mile left in the race. Cycle Dynamics isn't too far from you and they do good suspension work. You can also check out Cycle Pro Racing They did my suspension on my YZF and it works wonderfully. They are in NJ but they can turn stuff around quick. The guy's name is John Aquino and the number is 908-850-1955. It can't hurt to tell him I sent you, but I don't know how much it will help... Don't forget that we have a makeup race in AL on April 10th for the one that got cancelled by hurricane. You ought to be able to make that one. If not, good luck on the water.

I was there, Benjie, but I doubt you would have recognized me on the black angel of death... My Yamaha is under the weather so I borrowed a friends crf450 with all black plastic and flame graphics. I felt like I should have been wearing metal mulisha gear on that thing. I did allright seeing how I had only ridden the bike in the yard one time. I really didn't think the course was all that bad, you just had to get lucky and pick the right lines in a few sections. I finished 2nd in the 301+ class, but I think I still got 4th or 5th in SETRA points. You aren't done for the year, are you?

    Long Cane Hare Scramble

Benjie, I'm not going to make the Orange Crush... bike needs some tlc and I need to save the $$. See you at Aonia.

    Long Cane Hare Scramble

I was there and I am in the same class (4stC). I had my worst finish of the year with a tenth. I got a great start and I lead for about 1/2 mile until we caught up to the class in front of us. When the traffic slowed us down people started filtering around me. My hands went to sleep on the second lap and didn't really wake up until sometime in the third lap. At the end of lap three I had slipped to 8th and I was trying to push to make up time on 7th cause I knew he was close. I caught up to two guys and was trying to find a place to get around when the first guy went down and the second guy got stuck in his bike so I made a brilliant decision to try to go through the saplings to get around them. Well, I got hung up right about the time they were both leaving. Then several guys (I guess you were one of them) passed me while I was trying to get out of the trees. This happened with about two miles to go and I never did catch up so I slid through scoring with a 10th.... yay. I just didn't have it this weekend. See y'all at Aonia.

I'll be there, Benjie. What's the weather looking like and what kind of effect will it have on the course?

I'm not directly related to Tony but I am from the same area. I was too young to get involved with the Santee Cycle Club before it dissolved. I was in high school when they had the last ash hill poker run. Tony wouldn't know me if he saw me, but next time you see him tell him I said hello. Where do y'all (foxtrot and bigivy) live and where do you ride?

I still don't get why they even have the purple trail on the map. If we can't ride it, they shouldn't list it.

I don't think I am going to race this one, but I plan on being there. I'll probably work a check with Mark and George.
