  1. Yesterday I had to remove my clutch basket to get to my shift stopper in my 05 yz 125, I don't have A clutch holding tool, so what I found to work was to put the brake lever back on and put it in first gear, then stand on the brake as I remove the nut. This only works if the motor is still in the bike. If the motor is already out, what I did last time was pack a rag evenly around between the inner and outer clutch hub, put a screw driver between the gears and pull it off that way. Just thought I'd share that with anyone who might not have the tools. Both ways worked easily and didn't cause any dammage

2005 yz 125 sounds louder and bogs on low end

Found it.. the linkage broke. I called my local yamaha deeler and he kept trying to sell me something to do with the shift fork.. And had no clue what the power valve was.. does anyone know the part number?...
  4. I was riding my 2005 yz 125 the other day and a parked it for about a half hour. When I got back on it had no bottom end power and sounded a lot louder than usual. I got home repacked the muffler, changed the reeds, cleaned the carb, and still have the same problem. It bogs until it hits the power band. At idle up to about 1/4 throttle it sounds loud and "tiny" almost like the pipe is loose. But it is not. Could the power valve be stuck open? I haven't had a chance to look at the power valve yet

*the reason the cluch cover looks worn is the original which wasn't worn, had a crack. So I bought a $20 used cover off of eBay with plans to paint it. Just haven't got around to it

Of course you can spend more in suspension, exaust, etc, but just freshening up an older bike with some new parts does A LOT performance wise Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using ThumperTalk mobile app

Here is proof that an 05 plus can still make an awesome bike today with a little work, with the money I spent I couldn't buy anything on the market nearly as nice. So if your looking for a project an 05+ yz 125 may be perfect for you, parts are cheap and readily available I completed the whole project for under $2,000 and about a month and a half of my time. (Most of that spent on waiting for my wrench rabbit kit which was on backorder..) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using ThumperTalk mobile app

I used a 51 tooth rear sprocket to give me more power for the woods, I don't ride much motocross so it feels perfect if you don't mind shifting a bit more Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using ThumperTalk mobile app
