THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!
2007 DRZ400SM converted for long distance desert/ADV riding for sale in Goodyear Arizona. Very clean, low mileage, well-farkled bike. Kind of a long story on this guy: The bike was bought brand new in 2007 by my brother in law. A few weeks prior to buying this bike, he found out that I was into riding dirt bikes. Unbeknownst to me he went bike shopping with a sport bike riding friend of his in Denver. Well, this guy talked him into a Supermoto, thinking he could ride with both of us. Long story short, I ended up helping him convert it over to a dirt bike. The first thing we did was to pull the original wheel set off and take them into Woody’s wheel works who used the original hubs, but laced up new Excel Takasago rims and heavy duty spokes. I then re-geared the bike to 15/44 with a new chain. From there, he went on a couple rides with us and then the bike began to sit. It got ridden once in a while, but was always started and run at least once every few weeks. Fast forward to June of 2017, and he still has the bike but wants to sell it. I end up buying it from him to make a long distance desert bike out of it. I’ve listed below the mods I have done to it, but probably the single best mod was having the suspension re-valved by Javier Gonzales (Previously of Trail Tricks) while he was working at Highland cycles in Montrose, CO. This bike and suspension is awesome for what I built it for. The suspension handles the small baby head stuff extremely well by being uber plush and soaking up all the small bumps, all the while retaining good bottom out resistance for the larger hits. I’ve had this bike all through the San Juan’s in South West Colorado, and rode the Rimrocker trail to Moab, and then the White Rim trail in Moab twice. I was lucky enough to live near the San Juan’s, so I could get off work on Thursday, ride from Ouray, to Silverton then hit 550 back up to the top of Red Mountan, then drop down Black Bear to Telluride for dinner, then be back into Ouray via Imogene by dark. I miss those days. This bike handles this type of riding extremely well, and has never left me stranded. Don’t really want to sell, but just don’t need it anymore since I have a KTM 1090R to bridge the gap between this bike and the VStrom 650 I also have for sale. I know I will miss the versatility, suspension and light weight of this guy though. I’m sure I have left things out of the mods list below, so I will add them as they come to me. This bike has been used as intended, therefore does have scratches and scrapes of a dirt bike/adventure bike of this type. It has not been abused though. All maintenance has been done ahead of schedule. I intended to keep this bike a long time and maintained it as such. When I built this bike, no expense was spared, and used only the best parts available for it. This bike requires absolutely nothing. I have most of the stock parts that came off of this bike including tank, plastics, exhaust and seat. I will put these items up for sale once the bike sells, or if for some reason you would rather have the, say, stock exhaust instead of the Yoshi, or the stock tank instead of the Safari, we can talk about that. This bike is more than FlyNRide ready. I wouldn’t hesitate to ride it to Ushuaia right now as it sits! That being said I can be available to pick you up at the Phoenix airport if it helps.
