New owner of a 2018 300 XC with some quesitons

The AER are rough depending on the air pressure holding them up. If the pressure is to low they sit down in the stroke and are harsh. I ran 144 (motocross) in mine and they were to harsh. Race techs web site recommended 156 for my speed and weight and I backed off the clickers some and that helped a lot. Still not SSS fork smooth, but noticeably better. As far as the carb is concerned, swap the stock one back on and rejet it. I tried the JD kit and while better, still not great on the low end. If you do swap the stock one back in go with this jetting. MJ 470 PJ 32.5 Slide 5.75 (2004 KX125 option part 16025-0003) They also make a 5.5 slide, I haven't tested it yet, but I'm going to send my stock one to RB designs to have it cut to a 5.5. Needle 42-75 (KTM JET NEEDLE "6BFY42-75" 55431034400) Clip 3rd position Needle jet s-4 (KTM 55431021400) AS 2.0 (50/50 pump/C12 try in the area of .5 to start with) C12 mixed 60:1 with amsoil donionator As its a 300 it may already have the S4 needle jet in it, you'll have to look in the owners manual. You may also need to run a bigger main jet, but this will get you in the ball park.
  2. I'm not sure how many hours are on my buddys bike. I know his case or idle gear broke because its a '17. I have 18.5 or so hours on my '18 currently. The tracks I ride are right around 550'. So the same jetting as you'd use. I forgot to mention that when its cold out all I need to do it a clip adjustment to the 4th position.
  3. I have a '18 250sx. If I let it idle to low (I have my bike set to stall and not idle) it will get a slight knock from the balance shaft gear clearances. It did it new and it does it now (rejetted carb) so it has nothing to do with the jetting. Its typical only for Husky and KTM as they are the only two 2 strokes with a balance shaft. Buddy of mine has a '17 250sx and it does it as well. Side note, if you're having jetting issues try this jetting and you'll be impressed with how the bike runs MJ 470 PJ 32.5 Slide 5.75 (2004 KX125 option part 16025-0003) Needle 42-75 (KTM JET NEEDLE "6BFY42-75" 55431034400) Clip 3rd position Needle jet s-4 (KTM 55431021400) AS 2.0 (50/50 pump/C12 try in the area of .5 to start with) C12 mixed 60:1 with amsoil donionator

2017+ Mikuni carb jetting thread for 250/300

I see a lot of guys still have jetting issues with these carbs. This is the settings I'm running with zero issues.
