First ride on the 2019 Beta 200RR

Wow what a bold statement. I had a TE150 and interacted with you on Ernies 150 xcw post. My 150 had the higher compression Rk Tek and vforce and wasn’t bad. My bike now is xcw tpi 250 and find myself wanting to go back to a smaller bike. Have even considered a YZ125X. Having had similar bikes makes seem like it might be my next bike. My concern is the forks on the 200rr being sub par to the explorer forks.

I run one on my 17 te150 and it works great but you have to make sure your reeds are good first. I have to move the needle about 1/2 turn between summer and winter so it’s not completely fool proof. It was on the bike when I bought it so I don’t know the difference. Mine is responsive bellow idle all the way up. I feel it’s very smooth power. Others say it takes the initial hit but I can’t say. Mine feels very responsive but smooth. Main thing is you don’t have to mess with it. If you do it takes about 5 minutes to adjust.

I replaced the starter for $80 at Rocky Mountain on their own parts. It’s very small. Guessing 1.5 inch by 2.5 long. Fixed my issue and will start it cold even with a high compression head. Mine quit before I replaced it though. Was always weak before that.

If you go to any major reputable engine builder they will back up what Mog has said.

Eric Gore is a very well known engine builder and explains it very well on his web page. He says raising port timing increases mid/high end hit. Lowering port timing or ports increases low mid but loses over rev. I have sent yz125 to him. My buddy has a cr250 Honda. He lowered port timing and turned it into a awesome trail bike. No more screamer to get it to go. I also did the low mid power tune on the yz144. Turned it into a kdx 200 on bottom that still has a strong mid/top power. So much bottom I had to run a 14 tooth primary and a 9 oz fww.

I have a 2017 te150 with vforce, lectron, rk tek, rekluse, Pipe guard, factory husky skid plate, $5800 65 hrs. Husky has all the xcw plus linkage, front spring preload adjuster, map switch, composite sub frame. Skid plate. Better dash computer.

My friend rides a kdx 200 with gnarly pipe. We both agree my modded te150 will grunt just as good as his kdx only comes alive in the mid range instead of signing off like a kdx. It definitely will scream like a 125 if you decide to ride that way but with mine and if you watch ernies videos, his grunts great as well. I can’t compare it too the Ktm 200.

I road the blackjack enduro last Sunday in Mansfield Missouri. On the last set I was getting really tired but was thinking how much fun I was having. Afterwards I was thinking I would not have picked any other bike to be on. I climbed all the step up and rock hills in 2nd of 3rd. Only used 1st couple times getting hung up on rocks. I had mentioned trying a keihin instead of the lectron but after Sunday I won't be. Keep in mind Vforce, Rk Tek and Rekluse = amazing. Couldn't be happier at this point. Prior bikes in descending order. Yz250x. 300 XC. Eric gore Yz144 ported for low mid power. Ktm 520xcw. crf250r kdx200. Klx300 other yz125.cr125. Kx500 kdx175. SL 70. Z50 and started on a jc penny 3.5 Tecumseh chopper because I could not reach the ground in my brothers z50. Prop ably missing some. Long story what I really like is it has enough to do anything I want but never too much especially on a 2 hour hares scramble. The harder and nastier it gets the more I prefer the 150.

I have heard people asking about rock guard for the frame and motor. Found a fir cheap on at Rocky mountain atv in their oem stuff. $31.49 it's what come oem on my te150. Also curious why the xcw is more popular? TE has frame guard. Linkage. Machined triple clamps. Map switch. And preload adjuster for the front forks. Just few changes off the top of my head. And $200 more on price lol

For really rocky hills where you need to crawl or getting stuck on a hill where you get off in gear and pull giving it gas it will just crawl up, great for trail rides. have not rode a hare scramble since the past spring so not sure on how that will be. feels like your cheating sometimes. riding above 1/4 throttle it acts like its not there and engine breaks until you drop down to a idle. I have the heavy springs in both so it wont stall up high but grabs immediatly. also wont bump start but it doesnt die unless you hit the kill switch. I feel more confident trying super technical uphill with big rocks. A more skilled rider that has better clutch control does not like them. The reason i have it is i paid $300 for it brand new unopened box. Another plus is i never kill the motor by grabbing the brake. I do feel it loses some of the initial snap like driving a 5 speed manual vs automatic car.

The main reason I am running a 25% mix of 110 vp is to get a 95 US octane. I was running 50% 100 octane leaded aviation fuel when I called Kelsey at RK. He said he could bump up the compression a little if I was gonna keep running it. His number was 95. Those 2 combined has a good increase in power everywhere. Vforce, like Ernie says, is force us 2017 owners that had a defective reed cage. Mine had 4 reeds that had huge gaps so far as mine goes it added tons of low end and no bog anymore. If your reeds has no gaps when held up to light you may not see any change. Lectron, I can not comment because my bike had it on when I bought it used. It's smooth and strong mid to top. It does not have that instant throttle response of a bikes I have had with kiehin. May also be the auto clutch causing it. Works great on a 2 hour hare scramble without the arm pump. Also need to note at 55 hrs the starter went out. Maybe because the added compression. $82 from Rocky Mountain atv/mc Hope that answers your question
