    2012 WR450F stopped running

I just couldn't accept the fact that it had a bad fuel pump with that few hours. Lol. Lesson learned.

Thanks for all the input. Problem solved, fuel pump. Operating but low pressure. Just enough to start for a few seconds and die. Up in running and alls good. Thanks again, Dave

Okay, so someone mentioned to me that the timing chain might have slipped 1 tooth cause of a bad timing chain tensioner. Would this cause the bike to start, runs for 5 seconds and shut down? The individual that suggested this heard that the wr has a bad/weak chain tensioner. Dave

The lean angle sensor has been mentioned I just need to check the voltage when it gets a bit warmer. Thanks s much.

So secondary is actually good. Back to square one. Lol Thanks, Dave

    Fuse in spark plug boot?

Never mind, it's a 10K resistor. Back to square one. Lol Thanks, Dave

    Fuse in spark plug boot?

So I posted earlier about a no start issue on a 2012 WR450F. Troubleshooting everything and I find that there is a fuse in the spark plug boot. Mine reads open, does anyone know what size fuse this could be? No writing on it, never seen a fuse in the spark plug boot. Thanks, Dave

Okay, SO I checked the coil, the primary reads in range but the secondary seems to be 'open'. Book says replace so I'm going to try that. If the secondary is reading 'open' would this cause the bike to start for 10 seconds and than shut down? Guess I don't know the function of the 'secondary'. Thanks in advance, Dave

    Crank But Won't Fire

I guess if nothing else makes sense I can do a leak down and see what materializes. I have less than 400 miles on it so I hope that would not be the issue. Thanks, Dave

Yes it repeats it self for the most part. Yes stock dash/on off button. Dave

Okay, so I get it that some filter the gas they use. In over 40 years of riding, street & dirt, I have never filtered my gas. And yes I have had many FI bikes. Before I filter gas, replace the fuel pump I want to test the output to see if that is the problem. The bike has less that 400 miles on it and I can't believe the filter is clogged. It could be but I want the prove it before I replace the pump. So is there a good way to test short of filling the tank, applying power to the pump and checking if it is pumping full out? Thanks in advance, Dave

Thanks so much for all the replies, I will look into that. Also is there a straight forward way to determine/test the fuel pump. I can hear it come on, sounds normal but want to make sure. I guess it could also be the injector. I have checked it electrically and all good. Thanks, Dave

    2012 WR450F stopped running

Okay, So I checked the spark plug and it is dry after trying to start it. Guessing the fuel pump/filter. I took the fuel pump out to see about changing the filter and can not see how the filter comes out. Called the local shop and the parts guys told me you cant change the filter, comes as a pump assembly. This does not seem correct, can anyone verify if you can change the filter out? Thanks in advance, Dave

ChampWazza, Thanks. I have a manual and checking some of the electrical components, than check the fuel filter/screen this week. Dave

Did some searching and seeing a lot of 'hard/won't start' if valves are out of adjustment. I have never seen this but I'm certainty not the most experienced mechanic around. Is this possible, should I be looking down this path? Thanks, Dave
