    96 and newer XR250 shock

I actually just got a 2001 xr250r in yesterday. (thanks for recommending me xr250rdr). Shoot me a pm MXP.
  5. You are not kidding about being set for O-Rings , nice! Thanks for the other links, munns looks like the same fiche i use as well for my ktm. I agree that the cross referencing is not so important when ordering from the dealer, but I find it extremely helpful when buying a used part off ebay.
  6. Hi all, thought some might be interested in being able to cross reference parts for atvs, dirtbikes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, etc.. I found 3 sites that have micro fiches' that will do just that. So now you can figure out what years and what models share the same parts. They all seem pretty accurate. Have a look. http://www.motorecycler.com/part-lookup-html.html I would still love to find a way to find out what parts will still work on other bikes even if the part numbers are off, but I think that will be a bit more challenging.

Fisher Seat, Just got it on :)

Cost me 235 including shipping. I had a new cover made, but if your exisiting cover is in good shape they can re-use it and just add a little material to it which would save you 40 bucks.
  9. I sent a spare seat i had for my xr400 to get widened and recovered to FISHER seats. They were quick and reasonably priced and i think the quality is great. I had a quick ride and the extra width is going to be much appreciated for my long dual sport rides next year. Kick starting it is a little more difficult due to the seat width but I think i will be able to get used to it. Overall very happy.

Just saying hi, pic of my xr400

Yeah, thats the Clark tank. I can go about 120-130 miles before hitting reserve with the current gearing so Im pretty happy with the tank. I dont feel like first gear is too tall at least for the road. (i would definitely not want to trail ride with the current setup though.) Should have a modified seat coming back from Fisher Seats next week so hopefully it will make a big difference in my long distance rides. Ill post some pics when i have it on.
  11. Hi all. Been a while since i posted in the xr400 forum. I bought this bike in 2000 and it was a great off road bike, but finally went the ktm 2 stroke for the trails but just could not get rid of the xr. Got it street plated a few years back, did part of the trans america trail, and have slowly been getting it more and more street comfortable. Currently running a 16 tooth front and 40 tooth rear believe it or not, and it still wheelies in first and i can cruise at 75mph no problem. Just sent my seat off to fisher seats to get it modified to 11" wide. My buddies all laugh when i ride with them on the road (they ride cruisers) but i dont think ill ever quit riding this bike. I love it!

    Upgrading, need opinions

I say go for the 400. I have had mine since 2000 and i love it. It was strictly a trail bike up till about 3 years ago at which point i dual sported it. At first i was running 15 / 49 gearing and it was okay around town, but not much fun on state highways. For fun i went very drastic and tried 16 / 40 gearing, and to my surprise it is perfect for me on the road. Cruises easily at 75mph, and i have hit up to 95mph just to see where it would stop. I dont mind at all having it on the freeway as long as its not too windy out. For trails its obviously not great, but if you keep a 14 tooth front sprocket with you, it works pretty well. Good luck, the xr400 is a great bike imo. http://www.motorecycler.com/EbayPictures/ForumPics/XR400.jpg (Above link is a pic of my xr400 with my son on it in his Halloween costume. )

    Hydraulic Clutch Slave Cylinder Universal??

http://www.locox.com/Motocross-ATV/Hydraulic-Parts/Magura-Jack-Hydraulic-Clutch-Replacement-Slave-Cylinder0120651 Found this, was hoping it would be a bit cheaper, but still better than the whole system. Does anyone with the Magura clutch kit know if there are any additional pieces needed for fitment? Also saw alot of cheap pitbike conversion kits. Wonder if one of those slave cylinders would hold up for any length of time. Prolly worth a shot for 30 bucks
