    DRZ engine seize help

I for sure had time to hit the kill switch/ pull clutch before I head the loud bang. I’m glad I at least did it with this bike and not a more expensive one

    DRZ engine seize help

That sucks man. One of the reasons I got this bike was they are "tanks." Was planning on putting a couple thousand miles on it after changing the oil and then getting it inspected/ and changing all the fluids.

    DRZ engine seize help

The only mechanical experience I have is installing one of those bicycle engines. I just changed the oil and it would have been pretty simple to fill the coolant, but I was unaware. The resevoir is empty and I dont see anything in the radiator. Kicking myself now. Bike never felt hot to me though and I’m used to a ninja 300 which runs pretty cool.

@champwazza yea, Someone from a shop offered to take a look at it if I just brought in the motor. The bike came with a separate in the box Athena big bore kit. That might help if it’s the damage you’re speculating? I figured it was bottom end damage because I couldn’t get it out of gear.

Well, I hope the damage came from outside and not within. Could a rock kicked up from the front wheel while offroad do that? The bike did tip over in soft sand turn at literally 5mph. There is no way that caused it.

Didn’t see that before as I had it in a dark garage. (See pictures) This is the crankcase? I’m guessing this means the crankshaft is toast? as far as the oil. It seemed fine right after it happened and even now with bike cold. Coolant I never checked honestly

    DRZ engine seize help

So I recently got a 2007 drz400sm. 39mm fcr mx carb, mrd exhaust. 3 teeth down in the back, 11,800 miles, definitely used for racing (had the stickers) and what not. I should have had someone more mechanically inclined to look at it, but I didn't. Put 600 miles on it and didn't really go on freeway. Changed the oil (didnt clean filter) and put about another 150 miles on it, all good. So I drove it the 40 miles to rowher flats with my girlfriend on the back. On the way back home I was cruising at 75( I was being gentle with the bike on freeway) and had only been on freeway for a few mins. i noticed the power seemed to go down and the throttle response wasnt much there. within a few seconds it started sounding different and i think I could hear a faint rattling noise almost like a chain sound and then the engine just bogged and then bang 😭😭😭 We were probably going almost 50 still when the rear locked and we skid all the way to a stop on the median. I probably should have pulled in the clutch when it bogged but didnt. a bunch of white smoke poured out of the exhaust and I couldnt get bike to roll or shift the lever into neutral or any gear. So had to get a tow. When I tried to start it, there is just a click sound. I think the previous owner mentioned the cam chain needed replacing soon. Any opinions on the damage? I'm in West Hollywood if anyone can help. Thanks
