    02 XR250 problems

Hey there, I'm trying to reserect an '02 XR250 for my boss (yeah, brown noser over here) I thought it would be easy, just drain the gas, clean the carb and air filter, thump thump broom. Well after a lot of thumping we finally got it to start after swapping in a new spark plug, but it runs like crap. WOT it just makes a crappy sounding idle nosie, closed throttle it will die. It ran like that a few times and was fairly easy to start, but now we cant even get it started anymore. Most of my expirence is with YZ250F's so I have a few questions. -there is a lever on the bars that looks to me to be a compression release, is that indeed what it is. If so, how much compression should I feel on the kick lever if I don't use it (because right now there is barely any noticable compression). If this lever is for starting, what is the technique? -there is also about a 2" dia dent in the silencer, will this account for any noticable power loss/ running issues? -What are the stock jetting specs? I think it might be set up to run at an altitude higher than we're at now. Initially I was thinking there were just some jetting issues, but the lack of compression has me wondering if the bike has deeper deamons. Any help is appreciated!!

Looking for riding buddies in Twin Falls ID area

Depends what kind of old fart you are:thumbsup: . Bazooka Joe back in MN has at least 20 years on me and can ride circles around me at will, but he's a Vet A enduro racer and I'm... well...not. Shoot me a PM!!
  3. I'm from MN, new to twin falls, just here for the summer doing an internship for school. All my riding buddies are back in the land of 10,000 lakes and I'm hoping to make some new ones here. I've been trying to get to Rock Creek Raceway for MX practice but the weather hasn't cooperated. So anybody out there in Twin have room for one more? Espeically people who might have Tuesday's off. That's my only day off unfortunatly, but I get off work around 4:00PM (gi ve or take) everyday, so anyone interest in evening rides speak up too.

Anywhere to ride near Twin Falls ID

Freeriding is like what you can do in the winter on sleds, or like you see on the vids in Ocotilla Wells (spelling) and what not where there are big parks with mud humps everywhere to jump off. Do you live in the twin falls area llama or are you just a frequent visitor? I understand trail riding and land access issues, we have the same thing here in MN

Anywhere to ride near Twin Falls ID

I have a spark arrestor on my YZ250F I've been to ID many times, but never that part of the state and usually in winter for snowmobiling. Can someone describe the ridding? Is it like freeriding, or are the strict trails, or sand dunes or what....

Anywhere to ride near Twin Falls ID

Sorry mods, I guess ID is Northwest, not rocky mountains I'm going to interning this summer in the Twin Falls ID and I'm trying to decide if its worth bringing my bike out there. Are there any tracks or good places within day trip range of Twin Falls? I've primarily ridden MX, but I guess I'll try other stuff if somebody has room in their group.

  11. Since the matter arose I haven't seemed to loose any water. My sensor must be bad. I also have a problem with the fuel gauge sensor aswell. It also hasn't come on since my original post and I'm got another three hours worth of road trip on it since then.
  12. It was more or less 30 degree's this morning when I started my truck to let it warm up. After running for a few min I hopped in to take off and the "low coolant" message was showing on my display even though it hadn't reached normal operating temp yet. I immediatly shut it off and checked the res, it wasn't full but it was no where near empty either. I looked under the truck- no puddle. I decided to use my parent's vehicle to run the arrand and let the truck sit. Later today, I needed to use the truck to run into town so I figured I'd watch the temp and if it got hot I would buy some coolant at a gas station. Message didn't appear and it ran at normal temp. The truck sits for a little while and then the third time I used it today the light came on again, but it ran at normal operating temp and didn't overheat. Finally I drove for a combined 2.5 hours after that third trip- the light didn't come on and the truck ran at normal temp. Any ideas as to what's going on here? My coolant isn't full up to the fill cold line, but my truck refuses to hold that much coolant anyway (found out when I flushed the system two years ago). The level looks normal to me, if it is low its not by much. I was prett much parked on level ground every time. Also of note: I don't usually drive the truck daily. I'm at college so it sits all week and then I drive it on weekends. Any Chevy guru's with some advice? Errr, I miss-spelled false in the title, I'm so embarassed.

    06 YZ250F Monster Energy Graphics

Yeah, I'm rockin' the monster graphics too. They are sweeeet
  14. Transworld hinted that the red bull "Ride to the Hills" freestyle comp would be on TV, does anyone know where or when?
  15. I love my wiseco 262 kit. It pretty much has the same over rev as a 250 but has all kinds of new bottom end balls...it pretty much makes that blahblahblah over reving unnecessary becuase it pulls so hard down low, but you still can if you want to. I hear those 290 kits are really stressful on the motor components, after all you are using 40 more cc than it was engineered for. 262 is as reliable as the stock motor. All I have is a FMF Powercore 4 and this kit, and my bike makes all the power anyone will ever be able to use.
