Cutting the stock head squash band

I just came off of a 02 250 exc with the sx cdi and head so that’s probably why I feel it’s lacking in the snap department [emoji23] I’ve also been messing around with the jetting just took out the jd kit and did the Jarvis mods yesterday I think it is slightly better on the bottom but really hard to tell. going to order the sx today

For like the first 7 pages I had no idea he was the rk head guy lol I’m pretty sure I will just order a sx head and call it a day

This is all I needed lol 1.2mm is the number I’m shooting for, so I can measure what I’m at then have it milled down accordingly, If that doesn’t get me where I want to be I will go for a aftermarket head but I think it will be all I need

Cutting the stock head squash band

I was hoping not to pull the entire jug off just yet, the bike only has 11 hrs on it I’ve been reading all the jetting posts and everyone seams to say squash band is loose, so I thought If i could have my buddy cut it down for me and it would only cost me a 12 pack it would be a nice easy mod to get a little more snap although that rk tech head does sound tempting...

Thanks for the response guys. not really looking for more low end in particular i typically like to ride up more in the pipe, but just trying to get the jetting cleaned up I wouldnt mind a little more snap we have some deep sandy corners in the NJ pines I currently have the jd kit and it was a big improvement over stock but still not as snappy at my old 02 250 exc with the sx head
  9. Hey guys new to the form did some digging and couldn’t find a ton of information. Looking for information on cutting the head down on my 2018 te250 carb model bike. So here is my questions What is the stock squash set at? What is the ideal number to still run premium safely at 60:1? How much do I need to have removed? One of my good friends runs a machine shop and will do it for me for almost nothing[emoji106] Have mostly been finding stuff pertaining to the 300s and I’m not sure they are exactly the same
