This one still has the original tires on it. The second one is an 87, just a few mods.

    XR650L Issues... Help!

I'd take the oil filter out and look for metal.

    XL600r Semi-Hot Start Problem

Check to make sure the slides didn't get installed in the wrong carb. The left carb is the only one that has an idle circuit. It gets the slide with the cutout. I robbed this from ebay, see the cutout on the needle side? The right side is straight. I've run across this more than once, the first time was a bitch to figure out.

    XL600r Semi-Hot Start Problem

Something to check, the primary carb has a cutout in the slide. The secondary carb has a straight slide, no cutout. That could be why you have freeplay in the first bit of travel.

    Oil Cooler

One of the members asked for more information on the bracket. I machined the bracket from 6061 aluminum. It's all one piece. I might still have the cnc program if anyone is interested. It fits the head tube snugly and I used two 10-32 button head Allen screws to hold it. The rubber mounting parts are stock Xr400 parts. I got the basic idea from Scott Summers and refined it more.

The factory honda team did just that with the race bikes in baja.

It takes just a minute to do. Why take chances?

    Oil Cooler

No, not anytime soon. But here are a few pictures of the last one. The head tube on the Xr600s is 1.980 diameter. I think the 650L is the same. Things I learned from this project are the Jis fittings on the frame are 37 degrees and a tubing bender is your friend on the 180 degree bend. I used an Xr400 cooler and milled the nipples off. I then drilled and tapped to 1/4 inch pipe thread. Aeroquip 90 degree elbows makes for a neater job. It really worked well for us back in the day!

All good points! I'll add one that I do religiously. After the oil and filter change , I crack the 12mm banjo bolt loose to verify that the oil is flowing to the top end.

I think the head tubes are the same diameter. I still have 1 mount left, let me measure the inside when I get home from work.

94, Xr600. The reason I didn't go with the Sutton setup was we were riding in the woods and I figured it would take a branch. The opening in the headlight plastic acts as a scoop.

    Cooler in place.
