    17' 250RR Smart Carb 2 thread...

That sounds like a great idea! At high elevation the RK-Tek head makes all the difference in the world on my bike! All the head is doing is restoring the power / compression that the bike is loosing at high elevations. I get up to 13,000 feet on a regular basis. Usually in the range of 7,000 - 13,000 feet. What RK-Tek has explained to me is that it is not using any additional fuel. It’s just bringing the bike to where it should be from the factory at lower elevations. Hence why the stock jetting specs from ktm still worked well for me when I installed the head. His explanation was in much more detail, but made perfect sense to me. If you haven’t used a high compression head at high elevation you are really missing out. This isn’t meant as a dig on the SC, but RK’s explanation made sense on the phone and in my first ride experience with the SC. On my first ride with the SC and the richer metering rod installed, I got exactly 61 miles before I had to switch onto reserve. Luckily I was only about 10 miles from camp. I was easy on the gas those last 10ish miles and got back to camp with very little gas left. My buddy had to turn his reserve on in a similar spot. He was running the stock Mikuni on his 300 with no high compression head. Both of us with the same size stock tanks. Previously I would get 70-80 miles on the stock Mikuni before going to reserve. I know one of SC and Lectron’s claims is that they are more fuel efficient. I did experience this to be the case on my 17 300 with a Lectron installed. That wasn’t the case with the SC. Maybe there was an internal issue with it. To be determined. One thing is that the two companies do not agree on weather the Smart Carb does or does not consume more fuel with an RK-Tek head installed. It’d be nice if someone smarter than me could explain it with evidence to back it up. I honestly just don’t know.

    Technology Elevated SmartCarb 2

Awful experience with the Smart Carb 2! I recently purchased the latest version of the Smart Carb 2. I was extremely excited for it to arrive! I had explained to them my limited mods (RK-Tek head) they mentioned that the RK-Tek head causes the bike to use more fuel and because of this they need to install a richer metering rod. RK-Tek disputes this saying it does not require any additional fuel. They also mention the Smart Carb is ancient technology that does not work well. That they’ve heard of many problems with them. Well I received the carb last Friday, a day after the promised delivery date. Important because I had a long group ride weekend planned starting Thursday. And I expressed the importance of it being here by Thursday. He said it’d be at my place by Thursday guaranteed. I postponed my trip a day to wait for the carb. I installed it Friday afternoon when it arrived. When I first started it the bike would not run. I had to adjust the idle quite a bit just to get it to run. And what it was doing was hardly considered running well. (video coming soon) I got on the phone with SC and they asked me to lean it out using the top metering rod adjustment. He told me to keep turning it leaner and leaner until it would run. He said you can go as many clicks as you would like. I went a couple clicks at a time, nothing. A few more, nothing. He said to keep going leaner. 15 clicks, 20, 30, 35. I asked him several times if this was okay to run so lean. He said keep going. 50 clicks leaner, 55, 60, 65. Now it was starting to run okay but not great. Tons of spooge running down the pipe. Keep going he said. 70 clicks leaner. He said go on your trip and give it some time to break in. A carb needs time to break in? Never heard of such a thing. I decided to go on my trip. I had installed it and already missed a day of riding. I rode Sargents and hit some high elevations. The bike ran very poorly right off of throttle to about 1/4 throttle, then it’d run okay but not great. All the time pouring oil out the pipe. When I got back I reached out to SC again. I was asking if it were possible the metering rod they installed was too rich. They assured me it was not. I again called RK-Tek because they once again wanted to know what insert he sold me. Again RK-Tek told me to get my money back and get rid of the SC crap. I got ahold of SC again to see what we’ve gotta do to get the bike running properly. They were very defensive this time, saying their product is superior to anything out there. After listening to them rant and rave about their amazing customer service, and how smart they all are, I started to get fed up. I asked if it’d be possible to just get a refund, that I’ve had good luck previously with the Lectron on other bike builds. They then went on another rant about how inferior Lectron is. Then they started saying they would give a refund, but possibly a partial refund. Then they mentioned repairing it. Maybe a float issue, and if they could sell it as new then maybe more of a refund. It was such a weird long rant they went on. I asked for a refund and the got all weird about shipping and much higher shipping costs than I paid to get it here. Anyhow, this has been such an awful experience! I was willing to work with them, thinking this may be an isolated experience. I even offered to pay for another carb in full, and to ship this defective one back, but that just turned into another long unprofessional rant from them. With crazy shipping prices. I finally just have to walk away from this awful experience sadly. I explained to them that I’d need to write a review of my experience. They said “go ahead, your review will eventually be drowned out in our sea of good reviews”. Such an awful and ridiculous experience! Very arrogant bugger!

That’s not the situation here. He was texting me long winded rants at 1:00 am waking up both me and my wife. Would you appreciate at $725 carb that ran like this?

This just keeps getting weirder. Seriously! Please do show the email as being sent and to the email address you sent it to. That has 100% not been sent to me. Please do show the time stamp of it being sent and to what email address. To the people paying attention to this thread please do take note. Do you want to do business with a company like this? One who argues and argues, one that posts your text messages online, with theirs heavily redacted, a company that sales used faulty equipment as new and then says they won’t give a full refund because it has signs of use. Has anyone ever seen a situation where a company gets online and behaves like this? Please buyer beware! They sale previously used faulty equipment off as new. Please do watch the YouTube video. I would have never imagined any company would behave like this. Scary. One thing I can promise you Nathan at Technology Elevated Smart Carb. People can see how you’re handling this as a business owner. You will look worse for the wear in this situation. You’re unprofessionalism will shine through and the fact that you sell used faulty equipment as new is evident. I’d honestly really like to move on and not waste any more of my precious time on this. I have lots of riding to do! Please, I’m asking nicely and sincerely. Please go find something fun to do with your time and leave me be. You worked on this all night long and posted it at like 3:00 am. Please go ride your dirt bike or something. If you even do ride. Once again, please I want to move on. Please leave me be. Thank you.

Thank you. Those are valid questions. I believe this would’ve gone much different if Nathan would’ve handed this over to another owner. I still haven’t been contacted by anyone from Technology Elevated though I’ve requested that many times. As far as I know he could be doing all of this on his own.

This is the amazing. lol. Nathan contacted ThumperTalk to try and have my comments removed. Also TT warned me for content. No inappropriate content here? So I’m not sure they will continue to let me reply any longer. We shall see. My position has always been the same. We had multiple conversations in which you were unprofessional and unwilling to replace a faulty carb. I was willing to pay for that carb but your continued long ridiculous rants, raised pricing on shipping and just overall unprofessionalism caused me to want to be done with your company. What business owner contacts people by text message to communicate like this anyhow? I think it’s hilarious how much of your messages you have left out of your upload. I think you may want to check with your legal team. It is absolutely illegal to post screenshots of conversations with another person to social media or any other website. Please do look into it. And ThumperTalk you way want to look into the legality of being the host of someone posting private messages on a social media forum. Even though I think the messages tell the story well, sadly he has redacted many many of his comments. At this point I think because of your weird long weird rants to me at 1:00 am and the fact that you are somehow trying to defame me by posting my name and text messages online, with yours largely redacted. I believe we are close to being in a lawsuit. I’m guessing that you have gone rouge and that the other business owners at you’re company are not aware that you are off of your rocker? If they do know, that’d be inline with who you seem to be as a company. And you’ve been willing to go through all of this over a $725 carb? I was at one point willing to purchase another one because I thought this could have been an isolated incident. I didn’t want the other carb, hence why I wanted to pay for another one, because when I received the carb it had signs of being used. Please do watch my unboxing of it on the YouTube video. I believe it was previously used, maybe someone else had issues with it, you repaired it and sent it out to the next unsuspecting buyer. Well I could see the visual use on it. You also mention in our conversations that you can only give a full refund if you can resale it as new. How could you ever resale it as new? It wasn’t new and wouldn’t be new. This is the problem with using such a small company. There is no quality control and this is the kind of behavior that you exhibit on a public forum? Extremely unprofessional. Can anyone ever see a scenario where Rocky Mountain or Slavens or any other company goes on a forum and behaves like this? I think not! Also, he has absolutely not sent me a shipping label. Buyer beware! Seriously! They sale used, previous problematic products as if they were new. Seriously buyer beware!

Hey man I honestly just think it’s weird that you are writing me multi paragraph responses based on a situation you don’t know much about. He’s relaying information to you and you’re defending it as if YOU are him. Just strange. You’re just far to involved in the situation as a bystander. I just posted the video tonight and you’ve had the time to contact Nathan and go through all of these details with him after watching my video, and now you’ve made multiple long winded comments on here. How have you had all of this time to watch my video, gather all of this information and post on here multiple times very long winded comments. I just posted the video and you’ve done all of this in that short amount of time? I just really wanna move on with my life. $725 is just not worth it to me for this kind of weirdness. I’d really appreciate it if you’d leave me be. Thank you in advance.

Thanks. I went through their procedure in the instructions to see if the float was stuck. Unfortunately it wasn’t that. But thanks for the input / advice.

So you’re not a SC employee, yet Nathan is sharing my detailed conversations that I had with him and relaying it to you, and now you’re getting on here to defend him? And you’re taking his story as gold? You guys must be pretty close. Yeah, this just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Are you the one who paid $725 for a carb, only to have it show up late and run very poorly? It also looked used when I pulled it out of the box. And then when I did ask for an exchange that I agreed to pay for in full, I was told no. That they’d been burned before and won’t send another carb out. I agreed to pay for another to work this out professionally, and when I asked for a refund I was told possibly a partial refund, unless he could turn around and sell it as new. And through all this I asked to speak to another owner multiple times. Was refused that as well. Then he agreed to pay for return shipping and that the label would be emailed to me yesterday. Still haven’t seen it. So who are you again?

What in the world is this? Another Smart Carb employee jumping on to take zero accountability for how awful of an experience this has been. This is beyond weird. I honestly don’t even know what to say. Who are you? You were there for my conversations with Nathan? This just keeps getting weirder man.

Attached is a video of my experience, starting and riding for the first time my bike with the Smart Carb 2 installed. This is the experience that I’ve had with the Smart Carb 2. This is unrelated to the awful customer service experience that I had from Nathan with SC. This is just a video of what I experienced with the Smart Carb when it arrived and when I started it for the first time. I still have not received the shipping label I was promised today so that I can ship it back for a full refund. Disappointment after disappointment with this company unfortunately.

Agreed. I’ve never hear of such a thing with a carb. I’ve had a couple Lectrons on previous builds and they ran excellent right outta the box. No break in suggested or needed. Just my experience.

Here we go again. Nathan, please stop man. Why are you texting anyone weird long rants at 1:00 in the morning. Especially a paying customer. Please have someone else from you company contact me. I had offered to pay for another carb multiple times. Somehow you thought I was trying to pull a fast one by purchasing another carb. You kept mentioning how you’ve been burned in the past. This situation is just getting ridiculous. Please have someone else contact me to move on from here. Maybe one of the other 3 owners your company has. You crossed a line by contacting and waking me up with long winded weird rants at 1:00 am. We’re done man. Please set the phone down and take a minute to pause... now hand over the control to someone else with your company. Or not. I just want to move on and not deal with this situation any longer. Thank you.

Nathan, you must have spent hours writing that in the middle of the night after texting we weird long rants at 1:00 am. It’s so well thought out and professional. If only you would have actually handled the situation like that in our conversations. I’m guessing we wouldn’t be in a situation where I had to share my awful experience. Man I was trying to buy something to make my bike run that much better. That’s it simple as that. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case for me. I was willing to pay for another unit, thinking this may be an isolated issue. That’s where things got weird on your end. For some reason you think people are trying to rip you off. I offered you my credit card information again. I’m not sure why you brought all the emotion into the situation. Maybe you are taking a product from your company having issues to personally. As if somehow it couldn’t possibly have issues. I just think you should’ve handed the situation over to another owner like I asked you to do many times. I think that would have resolved things fairly easily, but for whatever reason you refused to do that and wouldn’t let me speak with anyone else, although I asked many times. As I mentioned last night when you texted me long rants at 1:00 am, please stop contacting me. If you’d like to have another owner from SC contact me to sort things out that’d work well. I’m completely reasonable and flexible, but after how you’ve handled things multiple times now, it needs to be from someone else at SC. Thank you.
