2004 CRF250R, Crank arm bearing and case shot... $1200+!?!

Forgot to add that the indent in that area created a hole. When I was cleaning it with brake cleaner the spray went through to the other side, which was kinda the deciding factor for me on weather to JB Weld it or not.

Good to know. You don't think there was a risk of that crank expanding and causing the metal to break off inside?

Well I am going to give it a shot with the JB weld and dremel repair. I did a bit of research and saw that someone had drilled through a crack to add reinforcement to a cracked section to prevent it from moving more. I plan on trying to do that method and see if it holds up. It seems that a lot of people say they have done the JB weld case repair, but not a whole lot of info or write-ups on it. Ill try to document my progress.

    CR250R Cracked Crankcase! Repair?

I know this is a really old thread, but how did the JB Weld hold up? I have a similar crack in mine and interested to see if it lasted.

I wasnt sure if people reused/repaired these case issues. I figured with that kind of damage it was going to need a new case. What is your guys opinions on this case? There are a few cracks and chunks missing... Can it be reused?

Someone else has to have dealt with this... There are so many cases out there like this.
  7. Just got a 2004 Honda CRF250R that I knew had a bad crank arm bearing, but what I didn't know is that the case would also be shot. I looked on ebay, as they are about $250 a piece new, and all the ones on ebay seemed to have the same damages as mine did. What do people normally do for this? Does everyone just replace the case with brand new cases? Seems like a common problem, but finding the cases is tough. Just want to make sure I wasn't missing anything and having a blown bearing is a $1200+ fix...

Looking for a crankcase in decent shape for my 2004 Honda CRF250R. Bad bearing on the crank arm caused some pretty bad damage in mine. They are brand new for $200-$240 per side so let me know what you got. Also looking for pistons, cylinder, and crank if you have it, may go new with those parts though. Thanks!
