    Best no mess chain lube

For a MC specific lube, I have always used Maxima Chain Wax. Never tried the "home remedies"

    Ignition Relocation?

I used the stock bracket and bolted it to the open hole on the front of the top clamp, left of the speedo. Once bolted on, I pushed it forward bending the bracket slightly to allow clearance for the key. It's tight but it works and is really tucked in well. Since I can't figure out how to put pics in a post, I put them in my garage.

    TT service announcement

I went to Kragen to get some grease for the boat trailer and noticed crush washers in blister packs on the rack across from the oil. They had various sizes in copper and aluminum.

small-medium displacement bikes, getting hard to find

The 250 Ninja is a very popular beginner bike. It doesn't scream ugly like the other 250 size bikes.

    Legality of CA Canisiter

Here's the California law to put you to sleep: 27156. ... ( No person shall operate or leave standing upon a highway a motor vehicle that is required to be equipped with a motor vehicle pollution control device under Part 5 (commencing with Section 43000) of Division 26 of the Health and Safety Code or any other certified motor vehicle pollution control device required by any other state law or any rule or regulation adopted pursuant to that law, or required to be equipped with a motor vehicle pollution control device pursuant to the National Emission Standards Act (42 U.S.C. Secs. 7521 to 7550, inclusive) and the standards and regulations adopted pursuant to that federal act, unless the motor vehicle is equipped with the required motor vehicle pollution control device that is correctly installed and in operating condition. No person shall disconnect, modify, or alter any such required device. ... (d) If the court finds that a person has willfully violated this section, the court shall impose the maximum fine that may be imposed in the case, and no part of the fine may be suspended. If its an E model not plated in California: 38390. No person shall operate or maintain in a condition of readiness for operation any off-highway motor vehicle which is required to be equipped with a motor vehicle pollution control device under Part 5 (commencing with Section 43000) of Division 26 of the Health and Safety Code or with any other certified motor vehicle pollution control device required by any other state law or any rule or regulation adopted pursuant to such law, or required to be equipped with a motor vehicle pollution control device pursuant to the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. 1857 et seq.) and the standards and regulations promulgated thereunder, unless it is equipped with the required motor vehicle pollution control device which is correctly installed and in operating condition. No person shall disconnect, modify, or alter any such required device. Notwithstanding Section 43107 of the Health and Safety Code, this section shall apply only to off-highway motor vehicles of the 1978 or later model year. 38392. When the court finds that a person has willfully violated any provision of this article, such person shall be fined the maximum amount that may be imposed for such an offense, and no part of the fine may be suspended. "Willfully", as used in this section, has the same meaning as the meaning of that word prescribed in Section 7 of the Penal Code. :busted: :busted: :busted:

Speedo is off, is there a fix?

"constant point"....What do you mean? In my experience, many of the sign mounted radars are not aimed correctly and read a couple MPH slow. They will never read fast (see "Cosine Error"). The best ways to accurately check your speedo is by dyno, gps or someone else using a radar or lidar correctly. Also most speedos that are off are off by a percentage so the amount of difference varies according to speed. You might be off 2 MPH at 25 but 6 MPH at 65. It is very unusual for speedos to read slow. Rumor is that Mfgs. usually make them read a little fast for liability reasons as already stated above. If you changed your speedo to read accurately, how would that throw your odometer off? Wouldn't your odometer have been reading low or high by the amount the speedo is off? It is all a function of the diameter of the wheel and how much distance it covers per revolution.

What did you do to your DRZ400 today?

Removed the Fuel canister. Used the longest hose to replace the one coming from the tank and routed it down through the swingarm. Zip tied the end to the existing vent hose in the same place. Easy enough and cleans up the clutter on the rear fender. No more, "hey is that a tool box?" Inverted the front turn signals. Since I have the triple clamp mount Cycras, I was only able to use the top hole on the signal bracket but the angle is right. I might look at cutting and grinding the top hole off allowing me to move them up an inch or so. All said, they are more inboard about 1 inch and slightly lower. I didn't have to do anything with the front brake loop but I did bend it a little forward and outward with my fingers so the line wasn't pushing against the left signal boot. Pics in my garage. You gotta love the free mods.

What did you do to your DRZ400 today?

Got the blue DRZ decals today from Wheeling Cycle. Top notch quality and service. Put them on tonight. They are just what the plain looking swingarm needed and at $10. won't be a big deal if they need replacing every once in a while. Thanks Forrest for the lightning fast shipping.

    Cycra Handgaurd Questions

I just bought the racer pack yesterday at a local shop. The salesman said the same thing, only available with the standard natural color guards and then you replace with whatever color/size you want later. I just installed them this morning and like Bronco said, they fit fine with stock controls..plenty of room. They were a little difficult to get everything lined up and I had to adjust the bend some but I am happy with the end product. I had wanted Acerbis Rally Pros but with the Cycras, you have plastic options if they break. Pics in my garage.

What did you do to your DRZ400 today?

Went for my first ride last night...only about 10 miles unfortunately. I felt guilty the whole time like I was riding my old YZ250 around town. All I can say is this is going to be FUN! This morning I put the Cycra Probend HGs on. A little bending and twisting but finally got it all buttoned up. I'm not big on the natural plastic color but I guess that's how the kit comes.
  14. Finally picked it up last night. Kind of a nightmare since it was a day late, then supposed to be ready at 5 "no problem, 2 guys on it". When I got there, the sales mgr I had been dealing with wasn't there. Other salesman says, "So what are you looking for?" as he walks toward the sales floor. I told him I was picking up a DRZ that was delivered today. "Oh yeah your the guy buying the SM"....NO, an S. When the Mgr returns he takes me to the finance guy so we can get this over with. Another salesman took me back in the shop to check on the progress, now 5:30....Bike just being uncrated, front end unassembled....***? Close to 7 pm now, employees leaving and finally load it on trailer. Had obligations last night so didn't get to drool over it or even go for a spin. First thing this morning got up and put the battery tender pig tail on it. I wasn't sure if there was some secret place to put it and didn't want to over think my first accessory so I ran it with the wiring along the left frame rail to just behind the carb. I still have to take the side panel off to get to it. While I had the seat off, yanked the snorkel. When I have more time, 3x3 and jets. I still haven't ridden it since I am carting kids all over today. Should be able to ride tonight when the wife gets home. Cant wait!
