  1. Hey, I am going to A2 Saturday and cannot find an AMPM that has pit passes. They don't even know what I am talking about when I ask. I am in Woodland Hills. Does anyone where I can find pit passes near Los Angeles. Thanks!
  2. Does anyone know who is riding this weekend at the Glen Helen Prequel? I read on raxerxill.com that Jeff Alessi is planning on it and Mike if his foot is ok from the Vegas crash. Who else is planning on riding?
  3. The MotoXXX team will be there, does anyone know who else?
  4. Does anyone know which riders are racing this Saturday 5/13/2006 at Glen Helen in the Prequel?
  5. I think I have narrowed it down to an oil ring problem. I am getting a new set and will reinstall them on the bike. When I have the bike back together and ride it, probably by Tuesday, I will post the results. Thanks for all the help.
  6. The spark plug has oil on it.
  7. I checked the end gap on the top ring and both oil rings and they were right on per Honda's specifications???????
  8. The smoke is coming out of the exhaust pipe and where the header meets the engine.
  9. I put the bike back together dry already. Everything was cleaned and dry, new rings and gaskets. Please explain what "you over lapped the the oil ring expander." When I put the rings on, I double checked to make sure they were in the correct direction. The top ring had the mark up. The oil ring expander butted up nicely without overlap, just as the Wiseco instructions showed. I hope this info helps. Thanks
  10. I have an 02 CRF 450. I replaced the piston, rings and valves and had white smoke coming from the exhaust. I was afraid the rings were not seating properly because I installed them with a little oil like the manual said. This was after about 15 minutes of ride time. I took the bike apart, replaced the rings, cleaned everything and put it back together dry, with new gaskets and rings. I went to break it in, warmed up the bike for about 5 minutes and then rode it hard, going to full throttle. The bike smoked the whole time. After about 20 minutes I was down about .4 L of motor oil. I let the bike cool for about 30 minutes, filled it up will oil, warmed it up and road for another 20 minutes hard. It still smoked like crazy and burned about .4 L of oil. At that point I shut it off and took it home. The bike is smoking like a 2 stroke and the smoke increases with more throttle. The bike felt strong when riding it. It is not loosing any water, just burning way too much oil. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Thanks
  11. What is the best way to break in an 02 CRF450? Just put in a new piston, rings, and valves.
  12. Thanks for all the help guys. I am going to take the bike apart and replace the rings, gaskets, clean everything and put everything back together dry. I am still not sold on the break in hard" and am going to consult some other people I know. When I start the bike, I will post the results. Thanks
  13. The reason for the improper break in was that I saw the white smoke and killed the bike. I came back the next day and tried it again, this time riding it. The 3rd day I put a different plug in to see if it would make any difference. I put a very small amount of motor oil on the rings and a thin coat on the cylinder wall. The bike then sat for a week before I started it because I was waiting for valve shims. The piston was at top dead center so some oil would have leaked down into the crank, but still a small amount on the cyclinder wall. Would that make that much of a difference?
  14. I have an 02 CRF 450R and I just put in a new piston, rings, valves and had a Honda shop cut new valve seats and installed new seals. I put the bike back together and have white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I put assembly lube on the wrist pin and motor oil on the rings and cylinder wall. I ran the bike for about 15 minutes total over 3 different days. When the bike is reved, more smoke comes out. When the bike is shut off, the exhaust looks like a "smoking gun." Any ideas? Thanks
