  2. Dear R.I.P. Husky, Did you hear that? I think it was a collective sigh of relief being exhaled by KTM owners worldwide. Just knowing that they now have the back-handed blessing of an "industry insider" like R.I.P. Husky will certainly help them sleep at night. ps. Thanks for continuing to post. I'm currently writing a thesis on Confirmation Bias and you've provided a profoundly important and expansive body of raw material. Please keep it coming.

Since you are testing customer-supplied product prior to disassembly, and the test unit is equipped with sensors and load cells, I can only assume you are using the output of your "tests" to drive the design process - then re-testing the finished product as some form of verification. Its unfortunate that you are unable to offer greater transparency with regards to your methods as the proper marketing of this "black box" (of currently unknown ownership) seems like a great way to increase-grow your business and further educate your customers (ie, demonstrating before and after results, based on objective / measurable evidence). Furthermore, I'm unsure why not being a "retail shop" would prevent witnessing. I regularly conduct final inspections, functional tests & performance evaluations at many non-retail / "job" shops and have never been told that I could not witness a test because of IP concerns. Without witnessing, how else would accurate verification be possible? And, even if secrecy is an issue, signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is a very simple process. Please don't get me wrong, Dave, I've learned a lot from your posts and I'm not trying to give you a hard time - but something here just isn't adding up for me. ----------------- Ref. Over the past few months we been having problems with the mounting clevis pulling out or cracking and when one goes at a high velocity it tends to rip out some of the sensors or load cells with it. We then have to scramble to find and get new sensors and/or redo the clevis or mounts, then get things programed back into the control unit.   6. Are paying customers allowed to witness the testing of their suspension systems on the machine, or would that violate your existing Intellectual Property / Confidentiality Agreements as well? Does SMART own the machine, or is the testing process done under sub-contract?

  9. Thanks Dwight FWIW my 2006 WR 250 with hand guards, front light, rear light / plate holder, hand guards and rad braces was 248 lbs ready to ride, full of gas (stock tank).
  10. Did you read the entire thread? Please see post number 59 for the YZ 125 vs HVA CR 125 comparo. The weights I posted were from North American sites - the HVA new two strokes are not street legal in NA, so including the the weights of signal lights would certainly defy your rule of using "some common sense". So would a few other items on your punch list....but the real proof of the pudding is in the eating....so please post the weight of your bike, I'm still waiting for Rudder to do the same.
  11. I am also taking HVA's word (or your word) about the dry weight of a CR - I posted my sources - so what's your point? Are you saying that Yamaha is lying about the wet weight of their YZ 125? If I posted proof from a calibrated scale, would you still refuse to acknowledge it as the truth simply because the actual facts about reality wouldn't be consistent with your current Husqvarn-evangelist belief system? After I roll a YZ off the scale, would you like me to weigh an HVA CR 125? Which broken half would you like me to start with? The front or the rear?
  12. If the HVA CR 125 is 208 dry and the YZ is 208 wet, then the difference is 13 pounds (minimum) - not 5 to 10. Is 13 pounds a lot? Depends on what it does to the power-to-weight ratio, I guess. That's what makes BRM's comparison with the YZ 250 so compelling. Can a bike be too light? Can you have too much money? Can a woman be too attractive? Can her hooters be just too darn big? All great questions.

If I woke up one morning and I was 9% lighter, I would be both shocked and overjoyed.
