    rm 125 help

    1. You just bought the bike ...and it is used ???? 2. 125's are made to go full throttle to make any useful power. 3. You will need a trustworthy piston ....to go full throttle...or expect a expensive failure in the near future. 4. I would get some metric sockets...and open end wrenches...and a torque wrench. 5. Take off fuel tank...exhaust pipe....radiators need to come off also......then the cylinder head....then take off the exhaust power valve linkage.....then unbolt the cylinder...and take off. 6. Look at piston....see if burned , scarred , are rings still "free". Inspect cylinder walls for scratches, missing / flaking liner...etc. 7. Next ....check bottom end bearing for up/down play.......by rotating piston/ crank...by hand.....this will tell you if the bottom end is still usable. 8. If all looks well .....buy a new piston/ring/ gasket kit.....and clean everything up and re-assemble.. 9. Crank up ....and have fun. out

    96 Powervalve - Need Help !

On the heads.........I think suzuki went back and forth with flat and dome pistons.....so the heads were different. I think your letters designation are 96-97-98-99-00 model years.....x being 99 , and y being '00. Not absolutely sure , on this , but no body else has any thing to say. Does your bike have USD forks ??? Or forks like a rm/z ??? out

    03 RM125 for Woods riding?

It will be similar to the 85L , except with bigger wheels. A bike that old...you will need to go over all the bearings, check clutch basket, make sure it has the counter sprocket case protector on it. You will be having to run it nearly wfo , for 4 hours.....so everything will have to be top notch ....or your son will be doing some pushing. I have an 05 125.....but am a little over the weight limit on it.....so I just use it for hard pack HS races...I stay away from deep sand and mud....just to keep from killing the bike. But I am sure a teenager, should do fine on it.....but like I said ....you will just have to go over it real good .... 05-03 should be the same basically.......mine handles great....runs great.....it took a beating from the PO.........I got it relatively cheap....and rebuilt it.....it still has original crank.....and HAD original sprockets/and piston still in/on it ......when I bought it. Comparing the suzuki 125 to the other brands.....would be like comparing the 85's to other brands........they're all about the same.....I have been on suzuki's starting with a 98 250, and liked it ....sprockets and stuff , will interchange....so have just stuck with this brand. Good luck.

    Couple questions

He's got the pics posted at the top of the rm forum. Looks nice. The bike is spotless.............leading me to believe...the P.O. had a power washer. But didn't spray the graphics directly. My bike has stains, streaks, etc......but nothing is seized.....kind of like Dr DK without all the garish stickers !!!! Ever rode your bike at the beach ???? I bet Puerto Rico....is pretty salty wherever you go.

    rm250 for service?

Should be on you tube.........how to change fork seals . MotoSportInc....is the guy doing the video. 5w is what is stock......if you want 3w , try it !!! There is also a smaller spring.....inside the forks ( about 3" long ). You can change out...to help out on the small bumps. I haven't thought about it in a while.......and did not change it on any of my bikes.....so don't have any " real " feed back on it. I had/have same complaint about front forks....in hardpack soil...but ( that is about 1/3 of the courses , I ride ) so haven't changed out the small spring. In deep sand , forks are good. I'm sure someone has the inside scoop on tuning these showa forks. out

04 RM 250 hanging up top

Maybe the throttle cable is in a bind ??? Cable getting frayed ???? Have you ever taken out the choke from the carb ???? Sometimes they get corroded over time. I run 42 or 45 sj ...here at sea level. The main jet...is pretty close to yours also....I have an 05, stock exhaust. Needle jet is stock....pretty close to middle notch on clip. Can't say much else......I have a 03 crf....that I have been finagling with for a while......sometimes when things go awry.on older equipment...you have keep trying different things. I also had an 03 rm 250....( sold it with 150 hours on it )....and it needed a new r/s crank seal at 130 hours. ( of course , you would probably know if yours was bad. ) out

    06 rm125 fork oil

I am getting this info....from an 05 250 manual. But should be close. Standard springs 0.44.....standard oil....350ml ( range of 310-405ml). I would think that standard on the 125 would be 0.42 front spring......and the 250 manual for that spring....is 355ml standard....and a range of 315-410ml. Of course....I watch the you tube video...on showa forks....to get the inner chamber filled and the air bled. Also ....I have a 05 125....with .44 fork springs.....just found a note in the manual....I put in 320ml ...and the forks feel good for off-road. Using 5wt oil. out

    2008 rm250 sitting low

I think stock ....your bike should be 44 up front...and 5.3 on the rear...or really close. The rm/z shock spring ...if it is stock would be a 5.4 or 5.5 ??? I think. I have an 05 rm 250....and weigh a svelt 220 ....and I put in 46 up front...and a 5.6 spring in the back.......the bike sits pretty good to me. Of course.....you have to have the front and back matched ( spring wise) or handling could be affected. You could just get the oil changed and the N2 recharged.....and see if that helps. ...( I would do that any how...since the shock is going to be off the bike). The bike was made 48 months ago...at least. On another note.....I have an 05 rm 125..with stock 42 front and the 5.2 in the back....and put on 44 and 5.4 springs...and bike handles like a champ. This bike I didn't mess with the N2 charge or shock oil. out

    Lets see The Rm's

Red shock spring.....kyb. Red was stock. 04/05 has yellow shock spring stock. Your front brake hose line is also going around the bottom of the fork.....in 04 they had one clamp on the fork guard....and then it connects to the caliper from the rear. Your back rotor is "holed"...I can't see the front rotor......01-02 were slotted....03 & + were holed. out

    Lets see The Rm's

clutch parts are the same. The p/v on the 03 ....at least the covers are like the 04-08. That rear brake reservoir , tells me its an 03. How's the front brake cable run ??? and does it have the floating front disc ??? Can't tell from the pics. Once againg ....nice bike.
  15. MrHankey

    Lets see The Rm's

That's 2005 tank graphics...........the kickstarter , rear brake reservoir --under the tank, and the kyb rear shock......rear brake rotor.............lead me to think it is a 2003. But you could have a title........and the frame serial # to prove me wrong. Nice bike though !!!
