  1. The majority of manufacturer's factory suspension works for most riders, it's not complicated to set up. If you are a competent rider you should educate yourself on setting up and pre-loading. It will only help you personalize the machine to fit your style. Please don't be intimidated to make your bike yours, simple google searches will get you the information you need to get more comfortable, the dynamics and rider preferences are too varied to have a manufacturer create a spreadsheet based on only your weight & height to set a bike up to fit every rider. Ride on.....

    Impeller Removal???

Although this post is almost 4yrs old, I feel the need to interject a little experience after searching a thread for some answers and performing the work. I had some coolant weeping out of the bottom of the case and was able to remove the impeller and replace the seal without incidence, or removing the casing. YZ450FS 12mm socket on the impeller, bike in first gear and brake on, short burst of force to the ratchet and easily broke free. I wouldn't worry about breaking the tang in the balancer since the impeller is aluminum. Dental pick to the old seal made for quick removal. Lithium grease on new seal on the inside and outside started by hand and seated with a socket a few light taps of a hammer. Don't be intimidated, make it happen.

Thank God I am still alive

Hang in there Chris, I am sure your dad will pull through just fine. This just might be "a wake up call".The reality of age is a tough issue for guys like us,...it's a fine line to balance. When do you stop pushing yourself? Is the question that we older guys (40+) have to keep asking ourselfs. Aging without being old is pretty tough.

    Mercy Air Crashed

Here's a link that will put faces and names to the story. http://www.mojaveweblog.com/pages/061212-1.html Katrina Kish was a flight nurse onboard and left a 9 year old son behind. What a tragic thing to happen around this time of year. If anyone is interested in helping out the families of these courageous heros who have saved the lives of so many people you can do so by stopping by any Bank of America branch and make a donation to the Mercy Air Flight Crew Memorial Fund. For more information about the Mercy Air Flight Crew Fund, call (909) 829-7009.

Thank God I am still alive

I was a ridealong in one of the Rescue 3 vehicles,..we were comming back from the Holiday 200 when we rolled up to the scene. My friend Wade jumped in on getting you stabilized on the backboard. I am not exposed to trama like that and don't like to see people injured. There were about 6 or seven people tending to you before the ambulance arrived. If I go down I hope that there will be people like that around! They did a great job! I know your wondering what exactly happened,...Unfortunately I have been in a similar situation. When you were in the ambuance I was checking out the 60'+ of rear wheel skid you laid down. Looked like the bike pitched sideways out from under you,.hence most of the nobbies torn off the left rear of the tire. And took a horrendous hit to the melon. I have to give your son credit, I was impressed on how strong he was, you could see how much he loves you by the look he had on his face. Needless to say I did not sleep much that night, I prayed for you and your family and I am soooooooo glad to hear that things went well.
