    250SXF Problems in high rev

By the way Buda00 (Nice Avatar you got ) My bike was also very nice on the high revs before this happend. I think the bike is a 4stoke that you have to put a lot of rpm to get the full benefit of the nice motor. I will reshim my valves because i have already taken out the camshafts and looked at the valvespring. But as you say they are in spec so there should not be any problems. About the float level i have check it and it where perfect. I have ordered a new needle from KTM (OBETN) and a 172 jet. Also i will mount a new sparkplug as well. Then i have ordered the workshop manual from Ktm so i can get the spec on the resistans in the ignition cap, ignition coil and so on. As soon i have sorted out this problem i will post a reply.

    gas cap on 250sx-f?

I have got the new fuel cap. It looks like the seal is a little bit wider then the old one. No leakage any more.
  3. My SXF with 10 hours on it goes like shit in the high revs. I have tried diffrent jets, diffrent position of the needle. I have also cleaned the carb. The valve clearance is also in spec. but on the minimum side. Spec. in - 0,10 - 0,20 ex 0,12 - 0,22 My valve clearance is. Lh in 0,13 Rh in 0,15 Lh ex 0,18 Rh ex 0,14 So i´m going to re shims the valve close to the upper spec and se what happens. I think the bike runs a little bit better the first lap and after that it fells like the valves are starting to float or something. The bottom and mid range is perfect. I have also contacted my dealer for help but haven´t received any good information yet. Any suggestions ????

    Any madjor brakedowns on SXF250

I sold my RMZ250 and bought the Sxf. I have about 10 hours on it and valves are ins spec. The only problem is the fuel cap that is leaking. But that is not a big problem. So i´m happy to own the KTM and i hope i will stay happy for a long period of time.

    250SXF gripes/questions

I have ordered a 47 sprocket from my dealer, and i will try i out this weekend. I´m not a pro rider and ithink the ktm is hard to ride pull only in the hi revs. I hope i will calm down the engine a little and that it is possible to stay a little bit longer on all the gears. Hope it will suit my riding style. Have anyone else tried the same thing ? / Fredrik
  6. Puuh ! Then i can sleep well because mine is a 06 !

    250SXF starting problem

I got a technical information from Ktm last night. They talked about to problems. 1. If the engine is hard to Kick (crank) it is possible that the valve clearance is to big on the exhaust valves. 2. Then they talked about hot starting problem. The solution where to re jet the carb and also check that it is mounted in a vertical position. Well i check my valve clearance and they where OK. I re assembled everything, kicked the bike and it where firing up on the 4th kick So as (wes hunter) says it may be the idling screw. Because the only difference from last night where that i had turn up the idle a little bit and break in the bike for 1 h. Looking forward to some more riding. /Spretman
  8. How can you se if your sfx is a 05 or a 06. I thought every sxf is a 2006.....

    250SXF Coil in cap?

Nope ! If you look at a photo of the bike you can see that it is a regular ignitioncap fron NGK. The plugg is fitted from the side not in between the camshafts.

    250SXF starting problem

I did my firs ride yestarday on my sxf. It was rely tuff to start. I had to roll the bike down a slope to get it started. It where pretty could last night (13 degrees). After i had been riding for 1h the bike started up easily. Hope it will fire up easy when it is could. I thing i have to re jet the bike, because when i rev up the engine from idle it hesitates before it revs up. (when i stand still with the bike) No problem when i am out on the track. Is this normal for the KTM ? My pipe is also wherry blue, is that because i have a lean mixture? I love the bike........
  11. Have any one of you with a sxf250 had any major problems Intrested in buying one for the next season but i´m pretty tired of bikes that do not work. I ride a rmz250 today

Checks on gearbox and lower end.

Hallo there! Today i will ship my cylinderhead for the forth time to rebuild the valvetrain on my rmz 250 04 Now it feels like we have sorted out the problems with the valves (i hope) At the same time i will open up the complete engine/clutch..... I felt a little freeplay in the rollerbearing on the inlet camshaft. So that haft to be replaced. I will change the cam chain. Check for wear on the conrod, crankshaft... But what should i look for in the gearbox ? What is the common problems? The bike have about 80hours and i have had no problems with the gearbox yet. Every tip is welcome Thanks

    Blown up?

I have had the inlet valves broke down two times know. The first time where after 40 h of running. I did the rebuild my self and only changed the valves. After 10 h of riding i got the same problem again. I let a engine repair shop fix the problem for me. They changed the springs, valves (new stock) and cut the valve seats. After 6 h of riding i have the same problem again : ( I thing we will go with bronze valve seats, stock tt valves and kibblewhite spring kit. But i will not have my bike back for 3 weeks so that sucks...... Hope that this will work for my bike. The story continues So after 2,8 h of riding i have problems with the exhaust valves instead The play is down to 0,04 mm at both the valves. So i will try with the bronze seats also on the exhaust side and new stock ti valves. Then it´s time to sell the bike, but i don't want to sell something that only will work for 2 to 10 hours for the new owner. Not fair. I have no trust in this bike any more and i think i will go for the yamaha 250f next season.
