  1. William1 please provide details on this technique to avoid chips in oil while helicoil repair on the bike. Mine might be saved with just a tap but I doubt it. Wall thickness looks close too, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, S.
  2. Actually no. The ring had slide down OVER the circlip. That's why I couldn't see it. The entire force of every landing is carried by this 1/32 diameter piece of wire and it could not take it. I just bought this bike and I'm worried that a few more hard landings and the spring seat will fail completely collapsing the rear suspension. The two pieces are a close slip fit and when the ring slid it got cocked and bound tightly, I had to beat them apart to get to the clip. Not sure what the fix is, I've never seen this sort of setup but this is my first Kawasaki.
  3. Found it, it was coverd with dust. Thanks
  4. No clip that I can see. Circlip, snapring? All I see is what appears to be a two piece spring seat. Either threaded or slip/press fit.
  5. How do you get this thing off?
  6. Mine was overfilled without a doubt. I just pulled the small plug on the right hand case and let it drain until it drained no more. About 1/2 qt. in my case. This method is also listed in the manaual for changes so refer to that section if unsure.
  7. Thanks again Mark, sent you a pm S.
  8. Yep, that's where I'm heading. That's the only thing I miss about my 01' Thanks, S
  9. Does anyone know what the diameter of the valve shims are? I'd hate to tear into this thing only to find out the shims I use for all other thumpers will not fit. Thanks, S.
  10. I'd like to be rid of my hot start cable. I can simply order the original plunger design from a circa 2001 bike but not sure if it's compatible with all Keihin carbs to present. Any ideas?

  12. Same issue, same situation. Puddle of oil on start up, steady stream no drip, from what looks like crankcase breather (just under rear brake lever). Stopped after riding a short while, but not before it drenched the rear brakes. Is/was it over filled? Bad rings causing execessive crankcase preasure? Just looking for idea here.
  13. Do I really have to replace the head gasket? It's a metal gasket and has never fired, just sat overnight. Should be fine I would think
  14. Yep, but it swings back and hits the cylinder first and it looks to be all the way back. do you think the head has to come back off to seat it properly?
  15. New piston, cylinder, and head went in fine but the Exhaust sprocket hits the chain guide preventing installation (it looks fully seated). Before I tear it all down any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
