  1. I had an old 83 XR500 that started doing this, apply power in fifth and I would lose drive. Turned out to be worn dogs.
  2. My head is getting the TRX valve treatment as we speak at AS Racing. When talking to Paul it sounded like unless your going to be bouncing off the rev limiter a lot TRX valves are the way to go.
  3. I had a XR500R back in the day that started slipping out of 5th when throttle was applied. I split the cases and the problem was the dogs on 5th gear were rounded as well as the mating slots on next gear. This was causing 5th to disengage as power was applied.
All it needs is a 6th gear!

  5. I'm in the same neighborhood as you, I'm at 59th and Union Hills. I usually only do CK in the summer when I get desperate. I cant go the whole summer without riding! We rode up there a couple of weeks ago, still some rough spots, they smoothed out the 2-3 miles before the Oro Belle mine and got rid of some of the rocky stuff that was in that area. But you cant beat 77 degrees in CK when its 107 in town! I've been meaning to try Table Mesa but its going to have to wait until fall now!
  6. : If you don't mind riding with an old fat dude PM me when the time gets closer, if I have the weekend free maybe I can show you the way to Crown King. Below are the links to Boulders and Wildcat which are an option as well. Boulders OHV parking area: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8399434,-112.4421458,2694m/data=!3m1!1e3 Wildcat OHV parking area: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8474166,-111.8163933,560m/data=!3m1!1e3 Rich
  7. Both the Boulders and Wildcat OHV areas are not too far from Anthem. Tons of trails of varying difficulty in both locations. Boulders has lots of rocks and sand washes, both jeep trail and single track. Wildcat has a lot of flowy single track. Another popular summer ride for all sorts of OHV traffic is the Crown King trail which starts near Lake Pleasant and gets you up in to the pines where its a lot cooler. I'm not sure how much time you have spent in AZ in the summer and I'm sure you know it gets quite hot. Get an early start and bring plenty of water. We have visitors (usually hikers) from cooler climates die of heat stroke every year because they underestimate the heat so be prepared.

I have the Baja designs led brake light which includes the license plate light: http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail?ItemNumber=600709 I use the BD brake light switch as well: http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail?ItemNumber=120104 I spliced it straight into the rear running light on my 2012 CRF450X and its perfect, Ive had it for over a year and its still works fine. I bought both together in a single kit at North Valley Honda for about 80 bucks. Worth every penny.. Rich

I had the same experience last year, I did get a letter after 30 days saying I had to go back with proof of insurance. When I went back I only had to show my insurance card at the information desk and they updated my info.

Canyon MX is out by Lake Pleasant near Carefree highway and Lake Pleasant parkway (99th ave). Cost to get in I believe is $20 (might be 25 I forget). It has 5 tracks, main, vet, cactus, mini and EnduroX. http://www.canyonmx.com Rich

Ahh, guess we will do Wildcat then.

Hey we are thinking about heading up there Saturday morning. I havent been there in over 10 years. Where is the Ranger Station?
  13. You can plate a non-titled bike in AZ but its a bit of a pain in the butt. I plated a 04 crf450r here in Phoenix with no title. It required a vehicle inspection at DMV and I had to get a bond title from my insurance company which cost roughly 10% of the value of the bike. Rich

I completely agree about Ride Now, I will only shop there in an emergency. Its a bit of a haul for you but I like North Valley Honda. They have a pretty good tire selection and a lot of aftermarket stuff. Plus they can order just about anything you can find online and the prices are usually pretty comparable with online prices before tax. Its on Cave Creek Road and a bit south of Greenway. Rich
