  1. Hello again, I am getting some popping and hesitation at WOT at 80-90% max-rpm. Also have popping when I chop the throttle. Too rich too lean? Cheers KLX 300 128 main jet DYNOJET needle (klx300 kit) on 3rd groove After market header& exhaust, airbox lid off

    Not to offend...

Alahu Akbar; God is great (-er, or -the greatest), Why should this be cause for concern? "Jesus loves you", you love him, so let others worship their God(s). And no, I am not Muslim but I do not feel it is constuctive (nor wise) to make derisive comments about other people's faith. An Osama Ben Murdering sticker would however be a cause for concern, but why make such blatant association between the 2? But by the same logic; in Northern Ireland, should Fish logos on the back of cars be seen as chevrons of cowardly Catholic murdering terrorists?

    KLX 250 S w/ 300 kit

It just stalls after 2-3 minutes after cold start up.But does idle steady until then Recap; 128 on 3rd w/ 2.5 turns out. Needs choke w/ every cold start (local temp 75 degrees/ sea level) Surges at 80% throttle in 4th and 5th gear Backfires (alot) on deceleration Thanks again.

    KLX 250 S w/ 300 kit

Before the 300 kit was installed the did start better, now I have to choke everytime when cold. The bike does however idle fine unless I let it sit 2-3 minutes after start-up. I will try 4th pos as you have recommended.

    Anyone ?............
  6. Hello again, after your great recommendations on jetting my last bike I am back for more. I recently added a big bore kit to an 06 KLX 250, there is also an aftermarket header and exhaust, a Dynojet kit and the usual free mods. Before the Big Bore I was running a 128 mj, 3rd pos Dynojet needle and all was pretty well. Now though there is a bit of surging in 4-5 gear at 80% power and the bike pops when I chop the throttle comming to a stop. It does not pop if I keep 1/8-1/4 throttle on deceleration though. I cannot tell if I am missing anything at the top end as there is way more of everything everywhere with the 300 kit. As usual, any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers

    KLX250 mods WOW!!!

My carb is pretty much sorted, I think realistically the cvk w/ 249cc is not going to have a big bottom end no matter what carb settings you end up with. I have done most mods listed; here, KLXZONE, PlanetKLX, Kawasaki forum, Australian KLX forum and of course http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107591 The bike has good mid and top end but needs time to wind up on the bottom. I think either a tm33 or a 300 kit are the only way to get a proper bottom punch from this bike. The higher gearing options only serve to mask the struggling bottom end and ultimately limit the allround useability. All the free mods, jetting kits, full Muzzys, gearing change etc have not made this bike a roll-on wheelie bike, less your sitting on the rear fender with no preload at all. Don't get me wrong I love this bike but I would hate for a lurker to be misled by overzealous mod reports, just trying to keep it real.

    KLX250 mods WOW!!!

Interesting, how much much do you weigh? I have exact same mods except 14/49 (higher ratio than 13/42), and bike is way better than before but lifting front wheel is not as simple as you mention WOT . I am 210lbs and am waiting for my 300 kit from Oz to get here hoping that then it will be as easy as WOT

Do you remember what jets and other settings you went with? My wife is riding her new 05 off the bottom and mid w/ a 12oz Steahly and throttle stop. Any tips on cleaning up the bottom-mid much appreciated. Cheers 70-90 degrees F, sealevel, 60-80% humidity

    Powering down a KX??

Here the new smile: and the old: I'd still like to find her a sidestand for this bike, any suggestions?

    Powering down a KX??

A great bike the TTR is and I looked hard at one for some time. there are loads of "TTR125 barely ridden, wife's bikes, as new, $1500-$1800" in the local papers here. Almost a no loss proposition but...no amount of money will ever get a ttr125 close to the KX package. Wife had DRZ 125, similar to ttr minus E button. She commented that on the DRZ she was more along for the ride (mass in motion) than enjoying the MTB handling she has now. A cliche it might be but she now is exploring routes that she never would follow me on before. That, in my book, makes this the right bike for her. She even wants to decorate the damn thing with stickers and what not

    Powering down a KX??

Mission Accomplished!! 12oz fww and throttle stop with a hotter plug and the bike is super manageable. Plenty of torque down low for her without ever getting on pipe. Today she did 36 miles of trails, stalled more than a few times at first, had one or two little , but she soon got the hang of the new 'modulated' powerband and had and absolute blast! On the way home she even told me to place an ad for her 'old' DRZ125 Yes Dear! Big thanks to all for your help
  13. Again,Thank so much for help with my KLX 250S, Much appreciated I just bought my wife her 1st 2 Stroke, a left over 05 KX100. As this is my wifes 1st 2 smoke, I have drilled out the throttle housing and tapped in an M6/1.00 in an attempt to keep her off the pipe and added a Steahly 12oz fww. Well you can imagine the spark plug fouling riding it this way. I put in a BR9EIX (a little hotter than stock) and dropped the needle 1 groove in an attempt to lean out the bottom-trottle some. After riding 5-10 min the way she would ride it., I removed the plug and it was pretty sooty but dry, I am concerned if leaning it out even more would be detrimental to the engine. Do you think it is OK to go still leaner(as is;sooty plug but dry)? Any other suggestions to keep plug a little cleaner(if necessary)while she is just riding the bottom end of this new bike? Thanking you for your kind help, Julian

    Thinking about a KX 100

Sorry to barge again but I had some questions regarding carb settings. Got my wife's 12oz Steahly today, was a 3 minute install until I followed one of the Steahly suggestions; 'Place a length of rope in the cylinder head to lock up the flywheel in order to torque FW bolt'. Well you guessed right, a piece of rope found it's way between the the side of the piston and cylinder, effectively seizing the lot! Anyway lets just say; I got aquainted with the KX's engine. So 2 hours later bike was back together and I have to say the weight really make the power more manageable. So back to my carb issue. As this is my wifes new bike(1st 2 smoke), I have drilled out the throttle housing and tapped in an M6/1.00 in an attempt to keep her off the pipe and added the fww. Well you can imagine the spark plug fouling riding it this way. I put in a BR9EIX (a little hotter) and dropped the needle 1 groove. After riding 5-10 min., I removed the plug and it was pretty sooty but dry, I am concerned if leaning it out even more would be detrimental to the engine.
