  1. As a 43 year old father of three, I decided to throw my hat in the ring and give MX racing a try this year. My Two boys have been racing for a few years and in have been on and around two wheels since about age 5. I've been lead a rather sedated life the past few years, but do not consider myself out of shape by any means. I'm an average C rider. After starting the season I noticed midway through Saturday practice I was struggling for energy. On Sunday race day by the second lap of the second moto I was spent. I couldn't seem to find a way to work past it so I sought out some help. After a FCA camp for my youngest boy we were given some samples of Hammer Nutrition. My son wasn't interested so I used them and was amazed at the difference. Heed and Hammer Gel became my "fix" for race weekends. Both products really help keep me focused and give me the extra little bit I was lacking at the end of the motos. This past weekend I ran out of Hammer and was nervous about how things were going to go down. My wife found Ryno Power products at the track side support truck so she bought Carb Fuel and Motivator for me to try. To be honest, neither seemed to do anything for me at all. I've heard good things about Ryno Power and I followed the direction on when and how much to take. Anyone else experience this? Any other old guys having energy problems on race day? For now I'll stick with Hammer Nutrition, but I'm curious what others do?
  2. I have a 2011 RMZ250 and I would like to reflash the ECU. I was told the Moto Labs was the place to go, but they don't seem to be responding. I've called numerous times and it just goes to voicemail. The voicemail message says the mailbox is full and cannot accept any more messages. Their website errors out when trying to send a request. And the email address I have gets rejected. So my question is, does anyone know where to go to get an ECU reflashed?

Hi all, We're thinking about heading south in March when the kids are off school for spring break. In preparation for the upcoming MX season, we thought it would be fun to take the bikes with and get some preseason riding in to knock the rust off. Anyone have any recommendations?
  4. I've never been to the Silver Lake sand dunes. We are vacationing nearby in August and thought we'd check it out. I have two boys who ride, a RM65 and a KTM50SX. Are these even powerful enough to ride there? If so, do they have day passes for out of staters? Thanks!

anyone know what happened to Hurricane Hills? I used to ride there about a decade ago and it used to be a District 23 sanctioned track. I don't see it listed and I don't hear anyone talking about it. My kids just started racing and I've thought about driving down, but the website is gone and it isn't on the D23 schedule. Did it sell? Is it for sale?
  6. Hi all! We just picked up a 2007 Mini Adventure. It was in rough shape so I tore it all apart and rebuilt/replaced a bunch of stuff and made it all new again. I put new shoes and a new front brake cable and I cannot get it to work properly. If I tighten the cable to the point where the lever works then the shoes rub to the point that it won't freely turn. If I loosen the cable to the point the front tire can freely turn then the lever doesn't have enough pull to stop the front tire. At no point during the adjustment can the lever prevent the front tire from turning. It is the weirdest thing. I've tried two different cables. It almost seems like the cable is too long. Part numbers match the manual. Anyone else experience this? I hate drum brakes!
  7. Did you ever get some pics of the cable routing? I just installed a foot brake on my son's Adventure and I can't figure it out. It seems to want to route over the exhaust but I don't like how it will want to rest on it. Thanks!
  8. I took out 4 of the 8 steel balls last night, but I don't have any washers that small so we will have to see what that does. I didn't get a chance to run it yet to see how it runs. Should be able to do that tonight. Hopefully it engages a little better now. New chain and sprockets should be here next week so that should help as well. The JR 50 is oil injected so I won't be messing with that. I was able to lean the mixture out some. I also removed the second pilot jet which made a huge difference in overall speed. Hopefully he can leave the line a little better. Last week he could barely make it over the starting gate without falling. I should have had him park about 10 feet way so he could have gotten a run at it...lol! Thanks for the help!
  9. Awesome! Thank you so much!! Did you take out the steel balls or add washers under the springs or both? How many washers did you add? I'm not really sure if I want it to engage that late in the revs, but it would be nice to give my son a little more acceleration off the line. I ordered new front and rear sprockets which should help give him a little more drive out of the corners, but it most likely will still lack acceleration off the starting gate. By the time I get this thing all dialed in he will be moving up to a new bike! Oh well, I guess I will just have to get my daughter to race it. Thanks again!
  10. I figured so. So, question is, can you adjust the JR50 clutch to grab at a higher RPM?
  11. So my 6 year old had his first race yesterday. He did pretty well for never having raced before (4th out of 11). The three bikes that smoked him where KTM Minis. Those bikes are so much faster everywhere. By son's JR50 is fine on speed, but that thing takes forever to get up to speed. He barely made it over the starting gate. Besides opening first gear, is there anything I can do to give it some power off the line? I want to keep it AMA legal. I already removed the exhaust restrictor and throttle screw. [edit] Is there any clutch adjustment you can do on this thing? I wonder if maybe you could get up higher in the RPM range before it started to bite would help. Just a thought... He wants a KTM senior 50, but would like to wait due to funding for now... Thanks!
  12. Well, we are planning on heading out there next Tuesday. I have all next week off so we are going to try and do some riding. Is there a kiddie track here as well? I want to take my five year old, but he hasn't ridden without training wheels and I thought this would be a good opportunity to try it. But not sure if the JR50 will make it up some of those jumps. I would rather have him on a flat kiddie track to start with...

Om, are soccer players really that big of pussys? I mean, really...
  14. Anyone know if there is a motorcycle junk yard around the cities anymore? Any in out state Minnesota? I am looking for some bits and pieces to a new project and I am going to need some parts. I know A1 used to be in St. Paul, but I believe they went out of business. There is one in Jordan I think. Just checking what is out there...
  15. Why no weekend practice? Anyone know? Would you say this is a pretty good track for the baseline beginner? I have yet to get the future wife on a track. She is kind of intimidated by the other "local" tracks.
