  1. I picked up an FCR 39 carb off Ebay an proceded to jet it with: 155 Main 38 Pilot @ 2 turns out PAS 5/8 EMN Needle at 3rd clip from top It's a stock 04 S except for a modified air box and modified end cap. The carb has a choke but no Hot start. It looks like it might be out of a 1999 yz/WR 400. Do I have the right jets for this carb? Is it the MX Carb? How can I see which type it is? The bike runs just ok. It has a pretty bad hanging idle. It doesn't pull nearly as good as my buddys SM with a Yosh full system, Mukuni JD Jet kit and air box mod. I can pull up the front wheel easily on his bike and his is geared higher. I have to realy try to get the wheel up in second on mine. Could it be that the valves are out of adjustment? It has 2,800 Highway miles. Any Suggestions?????

    Beta Techno 250

I rode a 97 Techno for a year. The Beta makes some of the best quality products in trials. The 97 Techno is a great bike. I ride an 04 now, great bike. The 97 is going to feel way better then the aprilia Climber. The sherco will feel a little lighter then the Techno. It will also have a little better suspension. But that's mainly because of the age difference. I guess it depends on how much you plan on riding it. If you plan on competeing then I would get a newer bike then a 97. If you want total reliability then look at a Montesa. The montesa uses a Honda motor and showa shocks. Montesa is mainly owned by Honda so they have a big influence on the bike. I don't care for the 4-stroke monty though, so look at a 97-2004. Some where around $2,000 should get you a bike that's around an 2001.

    4 stroke montesa

I rode one at 6,000 feet, it was very sluggish compared to my 04 Beta. It requires a completely different ridding style. The motor feels like an XR100 motor. Besides at nearly $8,000 for a new one it's simply not worth it. I rode in a competition this last weekend where A guy from Oregon competed on one in the Expert class. He beat out 8 other riders in his class. But considering he is an ex national champ that doesn't mean too much. there are about 5 riders in my club that ride the new Montesa with out any change in their riding abilities, so I guess it works for them. I prefer a trials bike with some low end snap to get up big obsticles. The Montesa requires the rider to rev the motor more and then snap the clutch to even lift the front wheel. Just my two cents
