  1. Yeah I read the article in Mini-Rider magazine. We don't normally ride in SC. We spend our weekends in GA or TN or AL. NOMADAK - Your advice is EXACTLY what my friend said. He has a son that went thru the same thing. Actually his son is 6'2" and 15 years old. He said move to a 2 stroke 125 and stay there for 2006 to allow him to adapt and gain some muscle mass and then for 2007, move to the 4-stroke. Luckily for me, Yamaha introduced in 2005 a new lighter YZ125 with the aluminum frame. So thats it, we will be moving to 125's. Thanks for everything!
  2. Thanks for ALL the input everyone. He has been practicing on a 2005 YZ125 and a 2005 RMZ250. He really likes the 4 stroke. My biggest fear was written by NOMADAK..."(which are alot more bike and would be tough for a 100lb kid to lift off of himself)". He is an excellent racer, almost made LL this year. I wonder if he has been too big for it for a while. This year has been plagued with injuries. Broken Collar bone in March, made the last qualifier and crashed running 12th. Broken right wrist in June. Took 2 months to heal and last weekend was our first weekend back and his knees are hitting the bars. - But like I said, he has been practicing on the bigger bikes and can whip on those like he does his 85.(and I really hate it when he does that!). He races for Yamaha and Thor, so I was thinking the YZ250F......but he is thinking the KX250F. I just dont know. I actually have been looking at the BigWheel Kit for the 85, but am thinking "Don't let them stay on the small 85 too long or it will end up hurting him".
  3. My son is 13 (14 in Oct) and is already 5'6". He only weighs about 100lbs. Currrently he races an '05 YZ85, but his knees are starting to hit the handlebars. He runs T2's and they have a small riser for the bar clamps. I was wondering if it was too early to move him to a 4-stroke? Any ideas, advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
