    2004 DRZ-400 HID headlight

Ok boys and girls.. you can't just install a HID retrofit kit to an existing housing. Do you all notice the mass light coming out of the headlight in the video? There is no cutoff pattern like the stock lamp puts out. It is just blasting light everywhere. I guess if you were off road it would not matter, but since this is a street legal bike, it will complety blind oncoming traffic. All I can say is check out this website http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html and do a little reading and you will see where I am coming from. I have built many HID lights with projectors and lamps utilizing stock reflectors The optics just don't work with an HID lamp. cheers! :-)

Jetting at ~8000 ft BIG BEAR

Ok... I know this is beat down subject but burned gave me the following for 7000': 7000 ft,3x3 mod 126 main jet 3rd needle clip 22.5 pilot 2.5 turns fuel screw Now, what about 8000'? The altitude changes to 8000-8500' at Big Bear. Would it remain unchanged? Thanks!
  4. Use a utility knife as you don't want any debris going down the box.

Re-jetted 400s and runs great but..

I guess I won't really find out untill I take it out in the dirt. The top end of it is awesome now! It appears to bog more if I am undergeared while driving so I am forced to downshift. Make anymore sense?

Re-jetted 400s and runs great but..

I did everything to the "T". Put the clip in position 4. Used all new springs and clips. Idles great and everything. The reason I say " I think" I lost some low end is that I have only 50 miles on the bike and it sat for a week before I installed the DJ kit. A week went by so it was hard to compare as this is my first DRZ. Any other thought or suggestions? Anyone? Thanks

Is $4000 too much for this DRZ?

meant to say shopped and shopped.. not shipped!

Is $4000 too much for this DRZ?

I got a BRAND new 2006 Out the door for $5495. So basically I paid $4946 for the bike. If you buy it for $4000, you will have to pay tax and reg from the DMV. So add another $400 so you would be $4400 for a 4 year bike with no warranty. I had the same problem you did... finding a used bike. So I just shipped and shopped and got it new!

  10. I did the 3x3 mod, re-jetted at sea level with 140 jet and 25 pilot jet and 2.5 turns. I noticed lots more high end. I now have a power band which I did not have before, but "I think" I lost a bit of low end. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I adjust anything? Thanks!

CA Reg of New 49 St Street Legal DRs?!?!

I looked into getting a 49 state bike due the availability. When I called AAA they said that it needs to say CALIFORNIA on the bike (sticker) or have over 7500 miles. I figure.. get a speedo that has over 7500 miles or make it happen and register it. You can always reverse the drill to get the speedo back to the correct mileage. I was told from AAA that the CHP will inspect the bike and not the DMV or AAA. So I have no idea who to believe. So I say roll the mileage!!! My thoughts....

    Should I go with 3x3 and re-jetting???

BCS, I am here in Southern Cal as well as I will ride around Orange County and in Big Bear. I ordered the jet kit and 25 and 27.5 pilot and 126 and 140 jet from Dynojet. I see you have gone through hell with htis (prior posts), would you mind telling me what worked for you? Did burned setup work OK for you? Thanks! Scott

    Burned, Jets for 2006 DRZ-400s

Burned, I ordered the 126 and 140 jet from Dynojet. Am I going to use everything in the Dynojet kit (exception of jet and pilot jet) with my 3x3 mod? Thank you.

    Should I go with 3x3 and re-jetting???

You are correct on that!!!! Probably more than what the repair would cost. What could posibly go wrong with a new bike? As long as you don't abuse it, it whould be fine.
