    CRF250X ok for big guys?

I had a crf450r and sold it because it was so brutal that it took a lot of work to keep it going. I bought a XR 250 and liked the way I could do the tight trails (my brother could not keep up on his 650 in the tight stuff). I sold the XR and now have two 250x's (an '06 and a '07) and smile constantly. I am 5-11 and 210 and old. I rode competition (enduros) for 40 years and like this 250 as well as anything I have ever ridden. If you have the choice , get the '07 or later because of the carb - no bog - the 06 has been jetted and still has an issue - - I think you will love the x unless you're a racer, and then the x can be made competitive. My 16 year olds also love the bike. The bike rips....

    Trail tech computers...?

Here's what TT service said: "You will need to do a reset on the computer. To do this you will need to make sure that the engine temp is up to at least 100degree and then you will need to hold down the left button and the mode button at the same time for about 5-6 second. When you first push the buttons down you should see the tach flash across the screen and then after about 5-6 seconds you should see it flash across again. This is when you know you have done the reset. The temp should show up shortly after that. " AND IT WORKED! Great customer service! I will say that I did not find this in the manual, so I am not very good at reading or..... Thank you for your help.

    Trail tech computers...?

I removed the battery, plugged everything in, and repowered it and it still gives just dashes. I also reset it with the reset button.

  5. I have two Trail tech computers, the original one and the new vapor that I put on today. The vapor is neat, but I have yet to get the temperature part working, but all else works fine. I fabricate all the bracket for the sensors and the mount out of aluminum stock and they work well. Trail Tech customer service offered teh following ot fix teh engine temperature problem: Quote "You will need to do a reset on the computer. " I did as they said and now all functions work. Great tech service! If you are going to ride enduros you should look at the ICO unit - but expect to spend some money! I have an old ICO that i used for years and it was great. You program in the entire race... it was like cheating - legaly! So for a general purpose speedometer-odo etc. the TT is great. I also have one of their kick stands and it works well also - and their customer service is great!

Pink wire mod 250X and Misc. others?

Read rick ramsey's - google crf250x - web page on the 250x, he has tons of things to say about it. He suggests that you drill out the diffuser on the stock pipe. I did that on my 06, but not on my 07. The 06 feels a little peppier, and a little noisier than the 07 but I haven't raced them head to head. Dirt bike mag just did a reporton the X and said that mod's are a waste of time unless you go with the closed course options... Mine feels faster than stock with the air box etc mods....

    Trail tech computers...?

I just installed one on my 250X and the temperature indicator does not work. I tested the sensor (the thermister) and it measures about 70K ohms and decreasing resistance with upward temperature rise, but all I get is dashes on the display. Does this thing need to be intialized or something?

Fixed Backfire on my 04 CRF450R

Thanks for the post, mine is doing the same thing. Maybe my problem.... R
  9. 35 in arizona? It was -2 two nights ago here in sunny South Dakota. I'm reading this 'cause I have a n '03 450r and I couldn't get it started today. When I took it out of the garage the temperature in the garage was 15 degrees F. the outside temperature was in the mid 40's. In the past I never gave it any gas (no throttle twisting) and it would start first or second kick. The bike is low hours and I don't hit the rev limiter very often - if at all! The valves are good. I put the thumper (JD kit?) in it and have been satisfied with the performance until today. I read the manual and I think because the air is colder and more dense, I need to put a larger pilot jet , maybe crank the fuel screw out another 1/4 turn (1-3/4), up the main one range by one, and up the needle to compensate. I was told not to twist the throttle and so I have been apprehensive about doing that , but maybe I should have tried today and saved my leg! So if anyone is an expert on this please post and tell me if I am on the right track. Thanks in advance, R
