  1. Sorry to hear it was stolen. Circletree was right my dr650 stolen and never recovered. Ended up building a shed to lock the new one up in. Good luck and hopefully they'll show up.
  2. That header wrap is going to smoke a lot when you first start it. Mine also did slightly after every time it rained as my bike was kept outside and the wrap would get wet again. If you got the black wrap it will eventually (fairly quickly) turn grey. It still seemed like a worth while mod to me though trying to keep heat from the engine in toasty SC.
  3. Deep inside I hope they find a tree that doesn't move out of the way, but I would like to think that they needed it more than I did. It's messed up anyway you look at it. Everything is working well in my favor though other than the hassle. Going to test ride a double thumper (boxer) tomorrow. I played in traffic mostly anyway.
  4. I talked with the claims agent today. He came up with just under $3500 for what they would pay minus deductible. I'm happy with the amount, it is what I figured it should be. He said mail them the title and the they would issue the check, he also asked if I needed any financing on a new bike because that might be a possibility. Other than the hassle and sadness of having my bike stolen I'm pleased with the outcome. I'll get a new bike the wife says so. I hope whoever took it is enjoying it as much as I did.
  5. My DR650 was stolen a couple of weeks ago. The insurance company said in 2 1/2 to 3 weeks we would discuss the value of the bike. I'm going to argue for the replaclement value not book value if I'm not happy with the number they come up with. Now the question. What would you pay for an Average to Excellent condition 2003 DR650, 6600 miles, suzuki skid plate and rack, DRZ 250 tail light, otherwise stock. Please give reasonable answers so I get an idea. I'm thinking $3200 to $3700 does that seem in line? Thanks for the help. This is what I would rather be doing than talking with the insurance company.
  6. I'm sorry to hear that your's was stolen, my was about 2 weeks ago. The insurance company called and left a message for me today regarding their value of it. Seriously, how much would it cost to replace a 2003 DR650 with 6600 miles, factory rack and skid plate? I would like to know so I can argue with them if I feel their value is to low to replace it.
  7. Don't worry I won't run you down unless I can verify it's my bike by visual observation of the RTV patch of the base gasket failure. If I see the patch I'll run you over and back up to make sure.
  8. It had the steering lock on and no chain. I have not put a chain on it for over a year with no problems (it only takes one problem though apparently). It was parked three feet from my front door between the house and a tree. My insurance company is USAA, they said if it is not recovered in 2 1/2 to 3 weeks they will pay book value + tax + title fees - deductible so what ever that works out to be. In about a month I should be able to get a new one. I'd like another slow extinct yellow one, not the even faster than blue black one.
  9. yeah I have full coverage but it still sucks. It is a 2003 and it's yellow.
  10. My DR650 was stolen from in front of my house last night. It's yellow with white side plates and a red decal above the headlight. The header has been wrapped and it's wearing Conti Escape tires. VIN#JS1SP46A432100410. If anyone sees it or knows where it could be please PM me. This sucks and I know that it's gone probably never to be seen by me again.

  12. I've done this before, had my wife go push the crosswalk button. I've also put the bike in neutral ran over and pushed the button myself also. I also told her that if you make the bike bounce while your stopped the lights will change faster.
  13. I believe the stock rack is rated at about 7 lbs. for it's load. I can tell you though that it will carry a 40 lb bag of dog food no problem. I've done it many times and the rack doesn't seem to be any worse for wear.
  14. The new ladle crane is rated at 120 ton i think, they spent a lot of money a couple of years ago upgrade the old one and now they bought a new one. If the trails you're seeing are right next to the zoo gardens and on the hill running down to the river from as you look over from Greystone, you can get to them by taking Mohawk near where 12th St meets 378. The problem being it is posted now and blocked off. You used to be able to go down there legally. I've taken my truck down there a few years ago it's pretty steep but was fun. It's a shame things get posted. I've been wanting to go up behind Lexington medical alongside I-26 it looks like a large scale construction site that might be a nice diversion.
  15. That track that is by the river used to run from Gervais to the Rapids apts over by Granby park. I've rode it a few times a couple of years back on my mountain bike, you have to cross several large gullies using giant drain pipes as bridges. It was a nice ride though. I've gone up behind the water treatment plant also but the tunnel was locked when I was there.
