    Wr400 2000 - rear shock maintenance

oh ok.....so these are a "maintenance" free item. it was just squeaky and clicky the other day so i wanted to pump some grease into it. thanks for the response
  3. just a quick one - ive gone to grease up my rear shock and ive noticed there are no grease nipples.... how do i service the rear shock?
  4. howdy - i have just reassembled my bike. when i first started it the lights were all real bright. after about 20mins they start to dim and are now really shit. does anyone one know what the problem could be? - i have check the stator and it is good.
  5. Hi. I am in the process of rebuilding my engine/gearbox and i have come run into a problem. I have removed all the gearbox bearings but 2 (the rear shift cam bearing and the rear main axel bearing) My question is - how do i get them out? The bearings are enclosed by the casing - so i am unable to press them out (they have to be pulled out). I have try hydraulicing them out but was no good (too many gaps in the ball bearings). Am i required to pull them out with a slide hammer? would heating up the casing (expansion) help? Has anybody done this b4? Id appreciate any response as I am stuck!!!

    wr400 pinging

well i have tightened up the chain the noise has dropped substantially. so i guess that was it! there is still a quiet rattle there but the chain/sprockets are due for replacement. thanks for all your help!

    wr400 pinging

hi there. i have recnetly bought a wr400 2000 model. since i got it i have noticed a rattle noise comig from the engine. now it sounds like it is pinging to me. noise seems to be coming from the top end and more noticable on the left hand side of the bike (if sitting on it) some background info. it does it in any gear (higher gears more noticable) does it at the same RPM regardless of gear (low- mid range) does it even when NOT underload (down a hill) (worse tho when underload i think) bike is running high octane fuel does it when cold/hot happens only at a certain rpm and goes away when revs drop/rise just that little bit. motor revs/idels/starts very well. no other noticealble noises. now.....i have done some searched on this site and some ppl said to check chain tension. my chain IS a little loose - but i dont see why that would be the problem as it only makes the noise at a certain RPM and reglardless of gear..... im yet to rev the engine slowing in neutral to see if i can hear it at the same rpm.... does any one have any ideas of whats wrong? or what i can do? thanks!

    WR400F 2000 tapping noise

hey guys thanks for the replys. well yeh, this also sounds like a old sewing machine. so this is normal? also what do u mean how the valves get tighter over time not looser? so this then in theory wouldn't make it noisier? thanks again guys

    WR400F 2000 tapping noise

i dont have another to compare to, its a private sale. ive done some reading up on it and it seams that the valves need to be adjusted quite often. the tapping sounds lke its coming from the head, so im guessing it is the valves. anyone here have any idea or have a wr400 '00 that is noisy? any replys appreciated, i need to work out how much to offer. thanks
  13. hey im looking at buying a WR400 '00 model but what i test rode it i noticed it was making a tapping noise. the guy said that its normal for the WR's. im guessing its the valves. do they need to be adjusted? what does that consist of and how much? thanks
