  1. Ok.... that was a very interesting article to say the least.... It goes to show that you don't know what you don't know..... I'm still not even sure what that means about the next helmet I buy. As far as the original subject of this post, I currently wear a RR (HJC AC-11) helmet, and since I've only ridden on the street, I have no experience with MX style helmets. I would say however, that the AC-11 has enough wind noise and I wouldn't want to increase that. I'm also real glad for the face shield and all the stuff that has bounced off it, rather than me.
  2. No problem.... I've been there. I'm just a big believer in helmets and wouldn't want anyone thinking their helmet was safe, when it wasn't.
  3. Actually, Snell rates all kinds of helmets and has a standard for both automotive helmets and a different standard for motorcycle helmets (because they do realize they are different). I'm not really familiar with the British Standards Institute, but I know that the US, the Snell standards are much higher than the DOT standards.
  4. I'm sorry, but I just had to jump in here.... Sounds like you need a new helmet... You do realize motorcycle helmets are only meant to absorb one good impact and then they are done? As for the "DOT Approved" thing, what you really want is "Snell Approved", they test to a much higher standard. Personally, I've been thinking about picking up an Arai XD, which blends the two styles together... Anyone have any experience with the XD?
