    Voltage of a 1984 XR200?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone remembers whether the 1984 XR200 (Not the XR200R) was a 6v or 12v bike? I appreciate your help, Adam
  3. Hello, I was wondering if anyone remembers on the early xr's and the later xl's the strange decompression chamber that could be accessed on one side of the head via allen bolts and a side panel. Well, I just rebuilt an XL600R, I got it started for the first time, (I didn't have the secondary decompression line which runs from the head down to a lever arm by the kick start) I rode it around the block one time and I was cruising along a low rpms when I saw the paint on decompression chamber melt followed quickly by the aluminum melting their and the engine loosing all its compression. I am completely lost as to what happened. What is this chamber for? What might have caused the this tremendous exhaust pressure to buid up their? THank YOu, I appreciate any incite.
  4. Hello, I have a stock XR600 that I rebuilt from the ground up from a rotting bush special. I managed to get everything running smoothly except the front suspension which has no leaks and I have replaced the fork oil. I about 230 lbs, and no matter what try I can't get the suspension to up much anything I face. In fact for 90% of the day I am on the road. I have had the tires balanced which improved thing slightly. I though XR were supposed to ride like coaches. Well sorry for the rambling. Anyone knows what the stock settings for the front and rear suspension are supposed to be I would greatly appreciate that info. Or if you have any suggestion on oil weight or possible problems I haven't thought of. Thank you for your time adam

1988 XR600 Rear Shock Help Needed

Do you know how much a fix like that usually runs for? Would I just be better off buying a used shock off ebay, there only $20
  7. Like a complete idiot as I was disassembling an 1988 xr600 disconnected the line that runs between the resovour and the rear shock. How would I go about restoring the shock and resovour to their original condition. Do simply to add the correct amount of oil, does the resovour need to be fill with nitrogen? As you can tell I am prety lost. I appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you for your time, Adam
  8. Like a complete idiot, I unfastened the bolt which connects the line between the shock and the resevour. My question now is how would I go about restoring the shock to its original condition. Is it just a matter of cleaning it out and refilling the oil, does the shock need to be nitrogen filled. I'm pretty lost on this one. Please help Thank you for your time, Adam
  9. Hello, I was wondering if any one knows the stock suspension settings for a 1992 XR600 or has any recommendation for settings for a 220lb rider primarily using the bike on the street. Thank you in advance for response Adam
