  1. The thing is....I bought a little klx125L for my wife and want to teach her how to ride. So I'm sure I'll be doing lots of idling/putting around when I ride with her. Sounds like the cooling system just isn't built for that kind of thing. Even @ 1100...I just think it's probably a square peg for a round hole. Thanks.
  2. so what does rebuilding the "top end" consist of? piston rings/seals? whats the "parts" cost for top end ? whats the "parts" cost for valves ? Thanks again for the advice.
  3. I'm looking for a CHEAP bike....like under $2000. I really just want a reliable trail bike with good power. I have been trying to find an 03 or 04 XR250R. I really really don't want to have to constantly check valve clearances and rebuild top end and valves. I really don't NEED a MX bike...... However, I can get this 04 rmz for $1100....I can't find a XR250R cheaper than about $2300. Just how much maintenance am I looking at with the RMZ...assuming there are no valve issues or cooling issues, which is a big assumption I understand. Thanks for your advice!
  4. I have the opportunity to get an 04 RMZ for a too-good-to-pass-up price. It was raced for 1 season and has been rebuilt twice....hasn't been raced since the 2nd rebuild. I will NEVER race this bike (this will be my first dirt bike, but I have several years experience on the street with my ZR-7S) and will just be trail riding. How often will I have to rebuild it? Also, what's the difference between a valve job and a new top end? Wouldn't a top end rebuild include the valves? Sorry for the "newbie" questions, but I gotta start somewhere... Thanks!!
