I have a late 80s DR125 engine that blows blue smoke only when I hit the throttle. Normally I would assume that the rings are at fault, but a dry compression of 130 and wet of 137 points to the valve seals. Compounding the issue, the previous owner claims to have done the rings recently. It is pretty clear that the head has not been worked on. Before I start ripping parts off: 1) do I need to worry about the motor cratering soon (as blue smoke would normally suggest)? 2) any opinions on whether the oil is coming from the top or the bottom?
