  1. thought i would ask this question here because it does affect the carb ! i use my klx 400s all year round but in the winter months (in b.c canada ) i don't use it as much ! does putting fuel stabilizer in the gas help at all with build up in the carb ! or does it just help the gas in the tank ! thanks .........

    so running fuel stabilizer in the gas all winter , should be ok ! and not do any harm to the carb or jets !

    does anyone know where to hook up the multi meter or rpm meter to set the idle on a dr-z 400s (2004) ! i do have the manual but it does not show you well enough where to hook up the wires !

    Best way to get the carb out?

    is it possible to install the jd stage 1 kit without removing the whole carb from the bike then !!! i all ready have the fuel screw plug out. i did it without removing the carb.
  6. why is the extended fuel screw so popular on the dr-z 400s ! when and why should you be adjusting the fuel screw ! and when you do adjust it what is the best way to go about it ? you never know until you ask ...thanks..

    man you guys are quick :applause , would i make those adjustments while the bike is idling and warm! and then turn the screw in or out until its idling good !

    i was wondering if it ment a different model year ! or maybe heavier jacket or padding ! i may have to call a dealer tomorrow just to ask ! as i am trying to find a good used one with pants , mostly for fall and winter driving..
  12. i asked you a little while ago about the problem with my 04 klx400sr (bsr-36 carb) and you said i would need to rejet , well its that time , my bike is completley stock ( no toil air filter is the only mod ) and i would like it to stay that way for reliability. i live in b.c canada,close to vancouver and do mostly street,logging roads, and some single track riding, i ride my bike all year round,what type of jetting kit should i install, for best all year round riding!and the least amount of tbls! thanks in advance burned you are #1...ps; i will be installing the extended fuel screw at the same time..

    what is the best way to check the slack in the chain ! my bike manual is on back order ,cant wait till its in so i can make all the adjustments. i am just at the end of my break in period as well....any tips or possibly a link to a site that will show the chain adjustments will be apprecated.....
  15. thanks guy , im dan627 ,i have the canadian klx 400sr with the bsr-36 , i havent hade a chance to look for that pipe yet , but since its not on the canadian models i wont bother looking , thanks for the tip ......

    somehow i thought you would say that ! thanks again for all the help, looks like rejetting is the way to go . just by looking through the forum it looks like most owners with a dr-z or a klx go that route anyways, there must be a good reason for it ! i will just follow some of the great instructions found on this forum on how to rejet.
  18. i have a klx 400sr 2004, when in 1st gear no gas just idling ,it does not idle smoothly it kind of loop idles ,this makes it hard to go very slow in 1st gear .if i give it a little gas and keep it there at a little faster speed it seems to be ok ! also when driving and changing gears it does not seem to be a smooth transion !when i let of the gas to change gears it seems to go to to low an idle and does not make for a good transition from one gear change to another ,hope this makes sense ! any suggestion would really help PS; the bike only has 600 miles on it , i called the dealer and they said it sounds like it needs carb adjustments,i would like to do this myself if possible .the bike idles great in neutral.....thanks ....Dan627..

    no problem at all.. i managed to get out the plug without removing the carb, and the screw was allready set at 3 turns out ! i put it to 3 1/2 but this did not seem to make a big difference ! should i be turning it out or in at this point! i ran out of time to experiment tonight .

    is the air mixture screw in this pic the same as a fuel screw ! if it is , this is a great pic and i have found it on the bike allready ,just need to confirm before drilling it out ! thanks for your patience guys...and do you think it is a good idea to install the extended fuel screw while im at it !

    i feel like a moron but my bike has a mikuni bsr36 carb and the carb on the site was not the same ! i have searched everywhere for a pic also went to the kawasaki site and entered my vin # and that did not work ! looked through old postings as well found one but it will not print and has the parts labeled by # but does not list what they are !!! any one know where i can get an exploded view that works and lists the parts and what they are ! thanks again ............Dan627.......
