    Bike won't start. Any suggestions

So did you solve your problem? I'm curious what was the cause as I'm having troubles and am looking for more clues to solve the problem.

What's a safe RPM to run for an extended time?

Decembermouse, Do you have the ability to use Excel Spreadsheets? If so, I can send you a spreadsheet that will allow you to change the gearing and read the calculated speed at specific RPM's. I got this spreadsheet from TT forums so I can't take credit for it. In fact, if I could remember, I would give the appropriate member his due credit. If you want it PM me and I'll e-mail it to you. Here's a simple example: I believe the stock DRZ E is geared to 14/47. At 7,000 RPM's the calcuated speed is 62 mph. The stock DRZ S is geared to 15/44. At 7,000 RPM's the calculated speed is 71 mph. I currently have mine (an S) geared to 14/44. At 7,000 RPM's the calcuated speed is 66 mph. I hope this helps. Let me know if you would like me to e-mail you the spreadsheet or if you have a question about a specific gearing combination.

What's a safe RPM to run for an extended time?

Thanks for all of your input. William & Davebert - I will definately check into getting a MCCT. Clutchsmoke - good point...Since I've never been to baja, although I realize it's desert, I didn't think about most of it being rather flat. Our riding terrain around here is quite mountainous, which is what I'm accustomed to. I think I'll go ahead and leave the 14/44 on it and take the 15 with me which would be easy to switch if I want even a higher ratio. Thanks again for everyone's input.

What's a safe RPM to run for an extended time?

William, I don't have a MCCT nor have I been keeping a log of valve clearances but I do plan on changing the oil before and after the ride. Tell me more about the MCCT if you don't mind.

What's a safe RPM to run for an extended time?

William1, Thanks for the response. So is there an RPM that is dangerous to keep it at for an extended period of time? It seems like there would be a point where it would be working too hard and risk damage to the engine. Thanks again...
  6. I'm planning a trip to baja this fall and really want to ride with the 14/47 gearing for the low end but am concerned about running at 65 mph for extended miles. I've never been on this trip before and understand there will be spells of 20 miles or so on paved highways where we will likely be riding at 60 to 65 mph. According to a gearing spreadsheet that I downloaded from these forums several months ago, that speed will have me riding at about 7,200 RPM's. Is this too high of RPM's to run steady at? Anyone else taken trips to baja with this gearing? Any input is appreciated!

    Rhino Stand

Well what do you think about the Rhino stand? I'm considering purchasing one also and I'd like to know if you've been satisfied with it. Thanks!

DRZ pics with the best background landscape

This past Saturday I went riding with my boys in the Hat Creek area in Northern California. My first time riding here and we enjoyed it lots!! My boys with Mt. Lassen in the background... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/Fred525/DRZ/Hat-Creek-Boys.jpg

    Rear Suspension Valving...

What did the $1,200 cover? I think my spring is correctly sized and I was just going to have the valving done. I thought the price was more in the $300 range...at least that's what I was quoted for the valving.

    Rear Suspension Valving...

William...Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like you are saying it's worth the money. It is expensive but I'm leaning towards having it done. Mike...Thanks for the link. Maybe you can let me know how it worked for your ride and how well it carried your items. Did it shift around much or stay pretty stable? Thanks again.

    Rear Suspension Valving...

Thanks for the feedback. I just checked out your garage. How do you like the wolfman tank bag? It's not overly large, what items do store in it? Some friends and I are looking at doing a trip in Baja Ca. and I am wondering if that would be a good bag to have along with a rear rack bag.

    Rear Suspension Valving...

Due to lack of response I'm guessing no one has actually done this and that it must not be worth while. Anyone?

    Rear Suspension Valving...

I'm riding a 2006DRZS and recently had my forks re-valved. I haven't had a chance to give them a good test yet but my question is regarding having the rear re-valved as well. I primarily ride ride pretty rough and single track terrain and am wondering if the benefit of re-valving the rear suspension is worth the time, money, and effort. How many of you have re-valved your rear suspension?
