    Bitterroot/Sawtooth

Thanks ITLKSEZ, I got the link you sent me to the trail system map. Perfect. I'm not sure yet if we will be able to link up with anyone from the area yet or not, so it might be like throwing a dart at a map unless you (or anyone else) can suggest the best route to the "epic" spots in the area. I'll download the GPS trails into my Garmin so I'm confidednt we won't get lost..... It's just that we are driving such a long way to sample such a large area and have such limited time, it's be sweet to have some favorite or particularly fun to ride or especially scenic spots/trails pointed out. If anoyone out there cares to throw in their 2c, what trails or loop would you ride if you only had one day in the area? Thanks again ITLKSEZ, I await your advice...thanks Jason

    Idaho Bitterroot/Sawtooth

Our group of 4 riders is taking our annual first week of October dirt riding trip from Canada into the US. We usually ride in Washington State (Colville, Gifford-Pinchot NF) or Oregon (Tillamook SF) but have been encouraged to push a little deeper into the Rockies by riders who have become friends we have met along the way over the years. I have been combing TT looking for riding in Bitterroot and Sawtooth Forests. Me and a riding buddy are traveling down from Kelowna, BC, Canada via Spokane and MIssoula and meeting up in Missoula, MT with another couple of buddies from Calgary, AB, Canada. We are on route to STanley ID to ride the Sawtooth National Forest and then on to Moab, UT. We are looking to ride technical single track in Bitterroot on the 28th and Sawtooth on the 29th. We are all skilled riders (A and B level National Enduro finishers, HareScrambles, Endurocross etc.) with level heads (family riding oriented guys, active in the construction and preservation of trails, members of local clubs and proud of our sport), keep our bikes well maintained and can handle ourselves in the back country. We don't slow many guys down on the trail and we don't push anybody. We are just out to take in the scenery and make some new friends. Who knows, we may get to host some of our new friends on our killer single track up in Canada. Would you be able to point us in the direction of some good staging areas leading to technical single track in Bitterroot and Sawtooth....Maybe south of Missoula on HWY 93 so we can carry on down to Sawtooth that way. Or better yet.....join us for a ride on Sept 28th (Bitterroot) or Sept. 29 (Sawtooth) I would greatly appreciate any help or advice you could offer. Thanks, Jason Wasylyk Past President Okanagan Trail Riders www.okanagantrailriders.com thetoothdoc@shaw.ca 250-469-3455
  4. Well, it's settled. Due to logistics, it's going to be Bitterroot on Saturday, September 28th. We will be leaving from Missoula early on Sat the 28th and carrying on South to ride Sawtooth starting on the 29th. Is there anyone who can point us in the direction of a good staging area with access to some good trails in the Bitterroot forest, or better yet, anyone who'd like to come along and ride BItterroot on the Saturday ?
  5. Driving through Missoula and/or Butte on my way to Moab Sept. 28/29th. I will probably only have time to ride one or the other. I'm looking for technical single track. How do they compare? If you could only ride one, which would you ride? Anyone want to join? Thanks Jason 250-469-3455
  6. I'm looking to ride Pipestone or Bitterroot on the 27th or 28th of September on my way to Moab. Anyone interested?

    Foot Pegs?

IMS PRO. End of story. You will wear the spikeks off before you ever break them. Won the dirt Rider peg shoot out. Have Raced 3 seasons of hare scramble, endurocross and national enduro and still going strong. Unbelievable

EG 295 kit and RB designs carb mod

doesnt the rb carb mod include cutting the #7 slide to an 8? He asks that you send the slide along with the carb when you do a gas gas. then again, the yz carb mod is $15 less. Maybe he doesn't do it on the YZ mod.
  9. I have next week off (Jan 16th to 24th) and am itching to ride. It's a little snowy in Kelowna. How's the weather down there? I'm planning to get down to visit a buddy in the lower mainland and would love to get out for a ride. I'm a Vet Expert rider (PNWMA and OHSS) and will ride with anyone who'll let me. I'd love to connect for a look at the coastal trails. I'll try not to hold you up too much. Are any areas better than others at this time of year? Vedder? Chipmunk? McNutt? How's the snow level? Thanks, Hope to hear from you soon. Jason 250-469-3455

    Anyone riding the 11th-15th?

Where do you like to ride? Goldbar? Walker? How's the weather around there? Is there snow on the ground? Raining?

    Anyone riding the 11th-15th?

Looking to Ride Jan 17th to 23rd -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I posted this last night but haven't got any response yet. Where are you thinking of riding? "I'm from Kelowna, BC Canada. I have a week off and am itchin to ride. I've been reading up on W2R and looks like you guys are still riding while we are snowed in. Anyone willing to show me around? I'm on "vacation" (week off work) so I'm flexible on the timing. I'll drive as far as Portland/Tillamook and buy beers after I ride Vet Expert in PNWMA and OHSS on an '07YZ250 so I hope I wouldn't hold you up on the trails, PM me please. Thanks, Jason"

  13. I live in the frozen interior of BC, Canada and have a week off in January (16-23). I'm thinking about throwing the bike in the truck and heading to the coast. Is there anywhere to ride (indoor or outdoor) in January on the Coast at that time of year? I'd hit track and/or trails. How far south on the coast does somebody have to go to find ridable single track in Jauary (WA, OR, CA?). I don't mind wet, but ice and snow could be a bit much. Ideas?

    How hot is too hot?

The bike ran like a champ on day 2 through a much less demanding poker than the previous day's overheating enduro. On day three, back at home in the shop all compression was lost and the bike would not start. I did as you advised and checked valve clearances. As predicted, the R intake was closed (all others were in spec). I shimmed down from a 190 to a 165 and got her back to spec and she roared to life with one kick. So....have I gotten lucky and should I count my blessings and keep riding her hard (NOT overheating of course)? Or...should I pull the jusg and inspect the piston, rings and cylinder? The smllest shim honda makes is a 120 and if dropped from a 190 to a 165 in one bad ride. I've heard that once they go, they go faster and faster. How long can I expect from this bike before more serious (than shimming) headwork is needed? What should my next move be? Thanks again.

    How hot is too hot?

Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it. I will thaw the bike out (back up in the hills where I live it's still winter) and do the top end check. Would the rings be damaged as well? Thanks again.
