  1. I traced the wires and they go as follows: Yellow wire and Pink wire go to rectifier (as shown in pic) by headlight, White wire with Yellow trace goes to regulator under the seat. So I got three poles wound between the Yellow wire and Pink wire and three poles wound between the White/Yellow wire and ground. Would I be right in saying that the US XR's have a floating ground stator, could this work on mine or are they totally different? HELLLLLLLLLP
  2. I must apologise for these pics not having anything to do with bikes......but there could be riding involved. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a41/willbyname/MPowerGirl.jpg chilly? http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a41/willbyname/mariah01.jpg Nice balcony
  3. Guys, I posted a thread earlier on in the week with regards to re-winding my stator and got loads of info from here via various PM's (thanks guys) and other links. So I took my cover off today to do the stator re-wind....great. No, not great, it already has all six poles wound. The wire looks pretty thin and the poles are not wired as one lot of six, they are wired as two lots of three. What I would like to find out is, do I wire it as 2x3 or 1x6 with 18awg. I have put some pics below to try and show what I mean and where the wires might go to. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a41/willbyname/MyStator.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a41/willbyname/MyStator2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a41/willbyname/PC100001.jpg
  4. I know what you mean, I wipe my tank graphic off with a towel everytime I wash it, it is still bubbling and lifting. I might try and get an identical one made up but without the perfs. 5. I've heard that it makes it easier / more accessible to get to when doing wheelies. Either that or you want the XR to feel like a BIG mountain bike.
  6. Never mind Evil Knievel with his broken leg, I can't believe no one has mentioned vorra65's avatar on the first page. Why do I feel like I want to have a Farleys Rusk all of a sudden.
  7. I've signed up for the XR650R forum on Yahoo group, just waiting acceptance. Has anyone converted their XR from AC to DC via a rectifier such as the Trail Tech one, or any other way for that matter? My end result is I want 12v DC, so there are no spikes in power, to run my GPS from the bike. I E-mailed Trail Tech with regards to running one of their reg/recs and a battery set up and they were the ones that told me I would need to re-wind my stator first. If anyone has any ideas or experiences please feel free to add your 2 cents.
  8. Hi guys, I am considering re-wiring my stator after reading the many "how to" instructions on here. What I need to clarify is the gauge of wire used, I believe most people that have done it use 18 awg. Would I be right in thinking that 18 AWG is equivalent to 19 SWG for us Brits, as the wire size of 1.02mm is the same? I got to thinking when I found this comparison chart... http://www.ajthermosensors.co.uk/Information/condsize.htm Would it be worth re-winding ALL the lighting poles while I have the stator off as I want to add a Trail Tech multi wave reg / rec and cap or battery. Reason being I would like to run my Garmin GPS V and maybe higher wattage bulb or different H/light without any hassles.
  9. Now how did that saying go...."To fly you got to have wings"
  10. Why does the saying "you should practice what you preach" spring to mind? I was looking forward to getting a copy of the 250 manual, I got the 400 one on pdf last time it "popped up".
  11. HIya Roostn67, have a look here..... http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/bikes_search.asp?modelexact=1&make=HONDA&model=XR&ccappr=400&min_pr=75&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=b32+3pr&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&keywords=&photo=1&sort=3&search=SEARCH I don't know if this is still for sale.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-XR650L-travel-bike-xr-650-not-xr600-xr-600_W0QQitemZ4598100838QQcategoryZ9806QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem A friend of mine is thinking of selling his XR 600 if that would be any good to you? I would have bought it but it wasn't for sale when I got my 250. If you are interested drop me an e mail at dwilliamsonuk@blueyonder.co.uk and I'll get some more info and pics on it.
  12. I use Copper Grease on the back of my pads, seems to work for me.
  13. Hey mOdD, have a look at these, just typed in Fanny Pack, Enduro Pack etc on Google and voila.... http://dirt-bikes.ridegear.com/shop/Packs.html Hope it helps you out.
  14. I don't know about the "jimmy button" but I think the "CR high" are made by Renthal. I got Carmichael bend renthals on mine, whatever that means, doesn't help me to ride like him.
  15. I'll second that........
