    engine mods

i put a yoshimura exuast and modified the crank case breathing and the air cleaner , rejeted the carb and put a set of hot cams and lowerd the gear ratio from a 14 to a 13 front sproket .that made quite of diffrence

    1998 ktm 400rxc vs. 2001 DRZ

i bought a new drz400 in 2003 and i liked the bike , in stock form it lacked power but other wise it is a great trail bike till i bought a 2006 450exc the ktm is about 30 lbs lighter and it doesnt feel top heavy like the drz. the drz is very dependable with almost no maintnance.i probably have 10,000 miles with absoluty nothing wrong with the bike, i understand that the older ktms were not very dependable so you might take that in consideration. something else i noticed is the distance in between the seat and the pegs on both bikes is diffrent ,the ktm is a lot closer together, about 2 or 3 inches

Changing flywheel to 2006 450 SX

i dont kknow ,but if you want a heavier flyweel you could add weights to the sx wheels

    Big Bore

you both sound like my ex wifes ,why not talk about big bore and the pros and cons ,and the reliability and the power difference ect.

    2002 520exc Lemon?

you said you have 13 volts at the battery. check to see what the voltage is at the battery when the bike is been started with the electric starter, it should olny drop to 10 volts, olny because the volts are 13 that doesnt mean that the battery is good. with the electric starter you could perform a load test

    05 450mxc

the olny problem i have encounterd with my 06 450exc is that i dont i think i will ever want a jap bike again.

    THE ktm of ktm`s

there has to be something wrong with anyboby that would want to put nos on 525. why dont you buy a hayabusa? maybe that will satisty your need of going fast
  10. yes, i drove both of them before i chose the 450exc , the 525 has more tork . they both have around the same hp like 46,the reason why i chose the 450 is because i like to keep the rpms up high and the 450 loves to be reved. the olny diference in both bikes is the bore and the cylinders and pistons are interchangeable , or you could bore your cylinder out and put a 525 piston ,as far as i know the rest of the bikes are the same

    DR-Z newbie saying hello .

you are going to like the yoshimura on your bike but your going to have to do jetting changes specially to get rid of the flat spot on the bottom end , you should also modify the air box for more flow i have the specs for the carb if interested

    Drz400, Ltz400 Are They Related?

i think they are because i just put a set of hot cams on my drz 400 and they were advertised for a ltz 400. as far as i know suzuki alny has one head for the 400 and the way they change the compression ratio is by putting diffrent thikness base gaskets

    400EXC or Not

i just went from a 400 drz suzuki to a 450exc and i felt that the bike was a lot less top heavy than the suzuki , my suzuki has had a lot of engine work to make it go fast and it has 43 horses at the rear wheel and i could tell you that the ktm will blow the doors off of the drz400, and the bike feels very stable at high speeds[50].it took a while to get used the ktm at the point were i thought i was a mistake getting a ktm, but after 2 rides i really got used to it were i dont think i will ever own a jap bike again. i dont think the 400exc could run with the 250 two strokes , but i know that the 450 will . the 450exc has around 46 horses at the rear wheel at sea level

    Hot Cams

i put both the stage 1 cams on my 400e and i olny felt an impruvement down on the bottom end, once the rpms get up the motor falls flat on its ass. i will probably try the stage 2 cams together .when i come out of a turn in second or third , you can really feel the difference in the low rpm s. but on the straight trail it defenetly lacks more top end
