    Trade 2017 250 xc for Yz250fx?

After three years with a YZ250FX, I think to do the opposite of you, sell my Yam and buy a KTM 250 XC or XC-W 2 stroke I owned fews (4-5) Yamahas and fews 5-6 KTMs mostly offroad not mx bikes . The KTM handle better , are lighter and feels lighter/slimmer, with better front brake and are as reliable as other Jap bikes . Yam Fx have better forks , good forks but not great , imo SSS are over-rated and still need revalve/shim change like any bike i have owned. The Yam Fx air filter stay clean longer but... i did drop dirt in trottle body when changed it a few times now. I found my Yam Fx looks used really quickly, the scratches on blue plastic appears more and the bare aluminum frame dark stained on the ''Y ''around header, skid plate area. I bought the Yam because it was cheaper, way cheaper, with reliable motor and good forks, but that's about it . I plan to going back to KTM or maybe Honda 250RX but i didn't put a leg over or even look at Hondas since maybe 15 years…. The only thing that i'm not convinced is KTM AER forks , i never tried AER and i have doubt about these, i may go the XC-W route because of that.

    Fouling plugs

I was fouling many plugs at startup....but with Klotz R50 I changed oil and never got fouled plug after. And then, 2 years later i cameback to that same R50 oil (because smell good), same thing, fouled plugs again........ Lesson learned this time...I changed oil and never got fouled plug after that, same bike/jetting. I don't know about the 927, i never try it, but fore sure at cold startup, some oils with a too high flash point are more prone to fouled plug.

    Longer front brake line 250FX?

    Thanks !

    Longer front brake line 250FX?

Old post but i'd like to know as well ?

    Front sprocket play

I try to not use this method...i prefer someone hold the rear brake and then i remove the nut with an impact , IMO less stress on the transmission.

    Did I make a mistake

Hey guys i'm confused now... Do you talk about a 250f or 125

    2018 YZ250FX vs 2017 FX350/350XCF

My current bike is a 250FX, i owned fews 4-5 Yamahas and fews 5-6 KTMs mostly offroad not mx bikes . The Yam FX motor is very strong down low compare to my friend 250XCF but IMO the KTM handle better , are lighter and feel lighter, better front brake and are as reliable as Yamaha . Yam Fx have better forks but not night and day difference like around '06 compare to KTM. The Yam Fx air filter stay clean longer but hate change it because i fear of droping dirt in trottle body. I found my Yam Fx looks used really quickly, the scratches on blue appears more and the bare aluminum frame stained (clay)around header, skid plate. I bought the Yam because it was cheaper, very cheaper compare to a KTM same year. I bleed orange and my veins are blue If i was you i would choose a KTM/Husky

    Thanks Dave J- Smart Performance!!!

I'll try to buy a Smart Performance kit...again. I can't find any info on his web site for a 250Fx CKNY which kit did you get, the KYB phase 4 or KYB Dell Taco ?
  12. Bonjour Pat, I don't have the # yet, the bearings still in good shape but soon i need new ones , i'll try to find sealed bearings and good seals. I see you still like it big..........on cc's I was sure my little 250FX has sealed rear bearings ?

    Thanks Dave J- Smart Performance!!!

I have tried to get a kit from Dave since 2012. I have changed my motorcycles 2-3 times since, with every new motorcycle i contacted Dave to have a kit. I was patient, i called, waited, called waited...every times he said '' I'll send to you next Monday ''... etc...after 7-8 weeks i always give up. So ckny, how did you do to get the kit from Dave.... did you email, phone, text him ? I need your trick please Thanks
  14. My 2015 FX has no seal on the bearing too, they come like that from factory. I think they sealup the bearing on the 2016 or 2017. I would like to put the WR seal too...but the 20mm vs 22 axles seem not a fit . When i'll change the front wheel bearings, i'll buy sealed bearing and find SKF seals from my local bearing supply.

You can't compare laps times from a year race to next year race, i'm sure you got better proof than that... And sorry, i can't understand a 230 can be faster than a Wr, something wrong with the Wr or your riding with this bike. Do you got the good springs and sag numbers for your weight ? What about suspension oil , are they ten years old or fresh fluid ? Take time/money to spoil your Wr and i'm sure you'll enjoy it even more!

    wheels interchangeability

I'm looking to get spare wheels set for my 15' 250FX, it doesn't matter 18'' or 19'' So what's models/years exact fit ?

    wheels interchangeability

    Thanks guys!
  18. DOMINICWR450

    wheels interchangeability

So i can put a F rear wheel with a larger axle and larger axle block from a F on a Fx. What about the front wheel, what's fit on a FX ?
  19. DOMINICWR450

    wheels interchangeability

I didn't find anything specifically about my 2015 Yz250fx front wheel, sorry, i'm new to Yamaha, my last one was an 04. I'm looking to a classified: ''Wheels from a 2012 YZ250f '' and the guy said: ''Front wheel will fit: yz 125 and 250 until 2014, YZ250F and 450 up to 2012 The rear wheel will fit YZ 125 YZ250 all years and YZ250F and 450 until 2009.'' From what i read on here, i may think the rear will not fit but i really don't know about the front ? Thanks

    Bleeding rear brake

My line was cut, had to change it. I got air in the line because a new one I did everything i should to bleed it, I did push the caliper in. Nothing worked. The MC banjo trick worked for me. I just wanted to share it.

    Bleeding rear brake

Old thread but that may help someone else... I tried to bleed the rear brake on my little Fx last night. i tried everything , pumped and crack the bleed screw, back bleeding with a syringe , after an hour and half of unsuccess, i went here and tried this. Push the brake pedal 1/2-2/3 way down and crack open the banjo bolt on the MC (same as you do with the bleed screw but with just the banjo bolt on the MC) , tighten the banjo bolt, release the pedal, done! Nice and firm, took 10 secondes.
  23. I get mine on #3 position, i'm 6' , i didn't like #4 position, but it's easy to change it later anyway.

    New YZ250FX

Thanks burmbuster for the tips on anti-seize and smoke. but i don't think we're counting the same way or maybe i removed too many bolts. - 2 seat bolts - 1 for the tank(alu. bracket) itself - 4 for the shrouds so it's at least 7 bolts
  25. DOMINICWR450

    New YZ250FX

IMHO KTM are easier to work on because they use less bolts.... how many bolts/fasteners you need to remove the tank on a KTM vs FX.... i would guess about 4 for KTM and 8 for the Yam. The front and side number plates plastic looks more thin and brittle compared to my KTMs...Time will tell. I like the wood screws better than a seized insert thread on a tank, just my experience here. I just try it 2 hours last saturday, i realy like the suspension, firm but smooth, i just switched the springs and not even touched the clickers. The motor pull strong for a little 250f, i like that. Every time i started it cold, i got a black smoke from the exhaust, but when it warm nothing.... is it normal ? For now, i like this bike!
